Environmental Scientist

Pennoni is hiring for an experienced Staff Environmental Scientist to join our Pennoni team on a full-time, direct basis and contribute to permitting / land development projects while based out of our office in the Princeton, NJ area.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of Engineers, Scientists, Planners, and other professionals in order to assemble regulatory-compliant environmental plans & reports. Perform wetland delineations, habitat assessments, vegetation surveys, sampling, and other project impact mitigation tasks for mapping & reporting purposes. Prepare and file environmental permit applications as well as providing technical support for regulatory approvals associated with land development & infrastructure projects. Conduct field inspections and provide project oversight. Communicate with regulatory agencies and local government officials, as needed. There will be a mixture of field work and office work in this role; this person will occasionally need to conduct field work in harsh outdoor conditions. Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.

 

 

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field of study). 5+ years of professional experience working in Environmental Science and/or Ecology.

 

This person will be expected to work in the field so they will be required to possess a Valid Driver’s License and have a clean driving record.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification is a plus! Completion of OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training. Experience with environmental documentation & regulatory submissions (permitting) associated with land development and infrastructure projects. Knowledge of US Army Corps of Engineers, NJDEP, and local land use / development regulatory programs. Experience with wetland delineation; proficiency in addressing project impacts to wetlands, surface waters & water quality, riparian zones, endangered species, stormwater management, noise, and/or visual resources is desired. Proficiency on relevant technical tools (e.g.:  CADD, GIS mapping software, etc.); experience with AutoCAD and/or ArcGIS is a plus! Strong analytical skills. Strong attention-to-detail skills with the proven ability to work with a high-level of accuracy. Proven ability to work independently in a team environment with minimal supervision. Proven ability to work in a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments. Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
