Overview TRC is seeking one or more full-time Water Resources Field Leads in the Planning, Permitting, and Licensing practice of our East Providence, RI office to support water resources and other types of projects. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders and will integrate with the regional team to complete a variety of technical tasks and projects. Responsibilities Lead water-based field programs such as biological surveys (e.g., aquatic plant mapping), sediment sampling, and water quality monitoring. Handle planning, logistics, and supervision of fieldwork for projects as assigned, including communication and coordination with field technicians. Mobilize field equipment from TRC’s East Providence, RI office on a regular basis (daily during peak field periods). Maintain and operate water quality monitoring and sampling equipment. Execute work in accordance with work plans/scopes of work. Ensure that collected data are accurately documented, well-organized, and of high quality. Collect samples, assure acceptable sample handling, and coordinate with laboratories as needed. Support other field programs, such as wetland delineations, site inspections, terrestrial biological surveys, and other activities, as assigned. Perform physically demanding tasks in varying environments and conditions (i.e., heat, cold) including completing boat-based field sampling activities, lifting and carrying equipment, and operating in remote locations. The position requires significant field work which may include overnight or extended travel assignments. Compile and analyze ecological and other environmental data. Write reports and impact assessments. Prepare permit applications and attend project-related meetings. Other duties and special projects as assigned. Demonstrate a commitment to safety and adhere to TRC Health & Safety Standards in all field-related activities. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental studies/science, fisheries, wetland science, geosciences, or related field. Advanced degree in related field and/or 2 or more years of relevant professional experience. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Position requires proactive communication with project managers and field crews. Self-motivated and detail oriented. Must have the ability to safely work through issues encountered during field activities to achieve project goals. Previous experience leading field sampling efforts and conducting water resources field work. Familiarity with water quality sampling equipment and aquatic plants of the Northeast. Experience piloting small boats and other watercraft (outboard motorboats, canoes, kayaks). Familiarity with digital field technology (GPS units, tablets, data collection apps, etc.). Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record. Must be able to pass a pre-employment motor vehicle records check and drive a company vehicle (truck). Exhibit proficiency in data management and reporting using standard office productivity software (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.). Additional Valued Skills: Expertise in identification of northeast aquatic plants. Possession of a valid boating safety certificate from a NASBLA-certified program or commitment to obtain. Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors. Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
