Job Title: Environmental Scientist

Job Description

We are seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our dynamic team. You will work alongside project managers and collaborate with a team of multi-disciplined engineers and scientists, technical and administrative staff. Your role will involve environmental investigations, UST removals, site remediation, environmental due diligence, and providing a wide range of observation and testing services for geotechnical and environmental development projects. You will also assist in directing the day-to-day activities of junior-level staff, schedule and coordinate task resources, lead soil and groundwater field investigations, and solicit guidance from senior-level technical staff and project managers.

ResponsibilitiesAssist project managers with planning and implementing field environmental investigation and remedial tasks.Provide field and office support for hydrogeological assessments involving oversight of environmental drilling and well installation, as well as Phase I and Phase II due diligence assessments.Conduct soil and groundwater sampling, including low flow sampling.Oversee excavation activities.Perform aquifer testing.Evaluate data to support the development of site conceptual models for environmental investigations, delineate the nature and extent of contamination, and modify or optimize post-remedy long-term monitoring programs.Prepare regulatory reports including Initial Assessment and Final Assessment Reports, Site Closure Reports, Status Reports, Phase I and II, Baseline Environmental Assessments, Due Care Plans, SWIPP plans, and other client/site-specific reporting as required.Assist with project cost estimating, establish/maintain budgets, evaluate subcontractor proposals, and coordinate all aspects of subcontractor tasks including schedule logistics and health and safety on site.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology.At least 2 years of experience as an Environmental Scientist, Field Technician, Geologist, and/or Environmental Engineer.Fieldwork sampling experience, including site assessments (ESA), remediation, subsurface drilling, soil boring descriptions/logging, monitoring well installation, groundwater sampling methods, and soil sample collection for UST removal documentation.Understanding of scope, schedule, and budget management.Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with an 8-hour refresher.Valid Michigan Driver’s License with no history of accidents or alcohol/drug-related traffic offenses.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in technical report writing, asbestos surveys, and project management.Work Environment

This position involves working 75% of the time in the field, primarily around Metro Detroit/Brighton/Novi/Plymouth/Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor, and 25% in the office. The work environment is very casual, with flexible work hours. The company provides 2-3 work trucks for fieldwork. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 40-45 hours per week. The company offers a small company feel with about 20 employees and opportunities for growth into leadership roles. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $31.00/hr.
