Come join us! **Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:** + The successful candidate will work with experienced professional consultants in performing soil and groundwater investigation and remediation projects related to petroleum and hazardous waste sites + The candidate will serve as an Environmental Scientist supporting current and upcoming projects within Texas and be responsible for conducting site investigation field activities, including but not limited to environmental site assessments, hazardous waste site investigations, and field sampling (soil, groundwater, air, surface water and stormwater); logging of soil borings, oversight of groundwater monitoring well installation and contaminated soil excavations; conducting data analyses and interpretation of field and analytical data; preparation of technical reports including but not limited to proposals, environmental reports, permit applications, work plans, and health and safety plans + Preference given to candidates with groundwater/soil sampling experience, familiar with the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality Petroleum Storage Tank (PST) program and Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP), and candidates that have specific experience in a similar role within an environmental and engineering consulting firm + The ideal candidate will have good technical and organizational skills and be able to work independently on assigned project tasks with limited supervision + The vast majority of the work (75-95%) will be conducted in the field. The successful candidate must be able to travel overnight as needed within Texas + The ideal candidate will have completed the 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and have at least one year (1) year of relevant experience + Preference will be given to candidates with applicable experience and licensed Geologist in Training (GIT) or Professional Geologist (PG), or ability to obtain such license ability to receive such license + Candidates must be willing to work both as part of a team and independently in the office as well as in the field on small and large projects' + Motivated candidates willing to learn and grow within an organization that has potential for advancement should apply **Minimum Requirements:** + Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Geology, or other applied science + Minimum 1 year of work experience in the field, primarily related to environmental services + Candidates with experience in a similar role with an environmental or engineering company in Texas are also preferred + Proficiency within Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint) + Strong written and oral communication skills + Excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple assignments on an on-going basis + Capable of working independently, under direct supervision of others, and in a team-oriented environment + Willingness to travel to field work locations within Texas for extended periods of time. Some assignments may require up to a week out of town (Per diem provided.) Hours may vary, typically up to 8 hours, field work may require 8–12 hour shifts depending on assignment + Ability to work outdoors in the field for project assignments in accordance with Atlas and Client safety protocols + A valid driver’s license and must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Record and Drug Screening. **Technical Requirements:** + Basic understanding of routine tasks associated with environmental inspections and assessments, subsurface investigations, or environmental remediation projects (soil, groundwater, vapor sampling, subsurface drilling), logging of soil borings, oversight of groundwater monitoring well installation and contaminated soil excavations + Qualified to independently conduct field soil and groundwater sampling (including various methodologies, containers, field equipment, laboratory requirements) and prepare daily field reports, document field activities and system performance specifications + Prepare Excel tables and field summaries for a variety of regulatory-driven soil, groundwater, and remediation system reports + Understand operation of environmental field equipment (PID, water quality meter, interface probe, survey equipment) + Working knowledge of Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Petroleum Storage Tank (PST) program and Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP) **Other Miscellaneous Qualities:** + OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification and current HAZWOPER refresher preferred + Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines for planning and executing work in a safe manner + Willingness to cross-train in other areas, if needed (wetlands, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance) + Geologist in Training (GIT) or Professional Geologist (PG) License, or ability to obtain such license is preferred **Benefits:** Atlas offers a comprehensive benefit program to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
