Freese and Nichols, Inc. is looking for an experienced environmental scientist with expertise in the field of environmental water quality and stormwater compliance within NPDES regulations (MS4, Construction, and Industrial) to join our dynamic and growing team in our Fort Worth, Texas office. This position will perform environmental and stormwater compliance inspections for construction projects, multi-media environmental compliance audits; environmental site assessments; mitigation measure implementation; permit application development; and write and edit plans for various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients. The selected candidate will work closely with professionals in water quality, hydrology, stormwater planning, compliance monitoring, and geosciences. The successful candidate will be someone who works well in a team environment, is responsive, and has strong communication and technical writing skills. The successful candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Regulatory programs under Clean Water Act (CWA) including Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), , Stormwater Management Programs (SWMPs), and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) requirements.Administration of municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) SWMPs for municipalities, including developing and reviewing ordinances, policies, and procedures, performing plan reviews, recordkeeping, training, MS4 mapping, dry weather outfall inspections, wet weather monitoring, and facilitating education and outreach activities. SWPPP development, NPDES permitting, compliance inspections, and reporting for Industrial and Construction Permit projects.Surface Water Quality standards, Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) and other key water quality initiatives and collecting and analyzing water quality/sediment/biological monitoring data.Site inspections and water quality sampling including the identification of necessary best management practices (BMPs) and corrective actions.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in environmental science, hydrology, natural resources management, or a closely related field.3+ years of experience.Ability to utilize software including Microsoft Office products; ArcGIS products are preferred but not required.Certification as CPESC, CESSWI, and/or CISEC or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.Preferred:
