This internship position within the Environmental Services Department will provide mentoring and practical hands-on experience in a corporate setting with trips offsite (may include visits to power plants under construction and/or in operations and offsite team meetings within Florida).  It offers challenging projects and assignments. It offers exposure to business unit activities; leadership and culture (i.e. staff meetings, networking, and meetings with key personnel). 

 

Key areas of responsibility within the Department which may require support include:

Strategic Planning Services - Responsible for identifying, evaluating, communicating and managing emerging federal and state legislative and regulatory developments that have the potential to affect NextEra Energy activities. Compliance Assurance Services - Responsible for evaluating the degree of NextEra business units’ adherence to federal, state and local environmental requirements and guiding the business units on environmental governance. Permitting and Licensing - Responsible for identifying and obtaining required licenses and regulatory agency approvals to modify and maintain existing power generation facilities and construct new fossil and renewable energy generating facilities, gas infrastructure facilities and transmission facilities.  Support Services - Responsible for providing consulting and subject matter environmental expertise (air, water, waste, wildlife) for all business units.

 

Ideal candidates will be seeking a bachelor's or master’s degree in Engineering (environmental, chemical, mechanical, etc.) and have an interest in pursuing a career in the utility sector.   

 

Candidate must also have excellent written and oral communication skills, along with proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Job Overview

To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).
