Environmental Services Tech I
Position Summary:
Responsible for environmental services in the hospital and office building setting. Carries out duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, acts in the best interest of Kootenai Health, and fully supports the mission, vision and values of Kootenai Health.

Environmental Services (EVS) technicians play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and overall well-being of both patients and staff in a hospital. Their work goes beyond cleanliness; they help prevent the spread of infections by adhering to strict hygiene protocols, ensuring that patient rooms, surgical areas, and common spaces are properly sanitized. By maintaining a clean environment, EVS technicians support the hospital’s mission and values to improve health in a safe, compassionate, and engaged environment. Their contributions are essential to the smooth operation of the facility and to patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Provides routine daily cleaning of assigned areas Utilizes work duty phone for EPIC, work distribution and communication Cleans patient discharge rooms, operating and sterile procedure rooms Obtains and utilizes knowledge of materials, chemicals, equipment and action processes in cleaning and maintenance of select areas Stocks closets, service carts and storerooms Maintains cleanliness of environmental services equipment and housekeeping closet Transports waste, recyclables, and biohazard wastes, disposing as appropriate Arranges Kootenai Health meeting rooms as instructed Maintains laundry carts for units/areas as assigned Maintains knowledge of environmental services systems Demonstrates the ability to interact, relate to, work with, and support the activities of a diverse workforce Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA) Follows all environmental and infection and infection prevention practices (i.e. proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and processes, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, as well as proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Performs other related duties as assigned Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous housekeeping experience preferred
