Summary

A Site Superintendent with a minimum of 5 years of experience specifically related to remedial/removal actions involving contaminated soil excavation, packaging, manifesting, transportation, and off-site disposal, as well as the implementation of onsite/in situ environmental remediation. This person shall be responsible for preparing for and executing remedial activities conducted on-site.

 

Essential Functions

Comprehensive site management that includes planning, data assessment, reporting, overseeing field personnel, travel and fieldwork, and/or sample collection.Environmental Site Assessments.Define scopes of service and prepare budgets and proposals.Interact and communicate with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels in a professional manner.

 

Responsibilities

Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise:

Responsible for being direct contact between client and HIS personnel on project site.Make sure we a servicing our client in a professional manner and maintaining their satisfaction.Be the leader in establishing a safety culture for all field forces, suppliers, and subcontractors.Responsible for execution of field activities to construct the project per the plans and specifications including quality control.Manages critical project information and insures all information is communicated in writing in a timely manner to operations personnel and clients.Adherence to labor and production schedules.Responsible for a basic understanding of contract requirements.Prepare and submit one-week and three-week look ahead plans to supervisor weekly.Submit all job paperwork on a weekly basis and in a timely manner.

Complete a daily report accurately detailing employee and equipment hours, completed quantities and other activities onsite as outlined on the standard form.

Qualifications

Required Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrology, Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Natural Science, or another construction-related field A minimum of 5 years of experienceMeet the requirements of an Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation Qualified Environmental Professional, as defined by 18 Alaska Administrative Code 75.333Knowledge of Alaska environmental regulations.Knowledge of RCRA, CERCLA, OSHA, and other federal regulations.Experience sampling soil, groundwater, and other media at contaminated sites.Experience in hazardous waste and hazardous materials management.Experience with environmental remediation technologies.Travel and year-round field work, with working hours more than 40 per week and weekends as needed.Excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills required to effectively interact with clients and staff at all levels.Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.40-hour HAZWOPER trainingExperience with planning, logistics, and fieldwork in remote locations.Experience monitoring SPCC Plans and SWPPPs.Experience performing and leading Environmental Cleanup Projects in rural Alaska.

Operation of motor vehiclesDriving, riding ATV/UTVOperation of heavy equipment, aircraft, marine craft, etc.Walking, Standing, Twisting, turning upper body, Twisting, turning arms, legs, Crawling, kneeling, stooping, Wear ANSI approved safety footwear, Wearing hard hatLifting/Carrying/pushing/pulling: 1 – 75 lbs.

Drug and Alcohol Testing Programs

All employees must pass Non-DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all UIC Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program guidelines and requirements.

If working on a DOT project, employees must pass a DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program requirements.
