Location: Hampton, NJ.

Linde Gas Equipment Inc. is seeking an Environmental Specialist to join our team

This Environmental role will provide leadership and assist our sites build best practices for Federal, State, and local environmental compliance, Responsible Care, and Linde corporate standards. This role also responds to customer inquiries regarding HSE program management and product composition related to ROHS and REACH, manages EPA’s HFC Allocation Reduction reporting and other emerging needs (e.g., PFAS compliance). This role facilitates continuous improvement supporting our strategic vision of not harming people or the environment.

Best performance builds transparency and structural resilience for Zero Incidents, solid compliance record, and timely response to customers. We seek continuous improvement in the Electronic Gases business which has a diverse portfolio of high purity gases (DOT Class 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3) primarily in cylinders, but also portable tanks and manifolded tube trailers. Majority of our offering is high purity compressed gas, with just a few liquid products, shipped domestically and internationally. Scope currently includes five operations facilities, seven stocking locations, and a few labs.

What you will be doing:

• Supports Electronics sites, building best practices and supplying hands-on resources as needed.

Includes air (currently no Title 5 scope) and water-related permits (discharge and/or stormwater), industrial and hazardous waste, emissions tracking, HFC and GHG heels tracking. Dispersion modeling work for PHA and RMP risk assessments.

• Develops competencies of facility managers and HSE Coordinators for environment compliance and best practices at sites. Provides hands-on support as needed.

• For topics specific to LGE Electronics gases business, develops and sustains programs and practices. Recent examples include HFC Allocation program, and both regulatory and customer expectations regarding PFAS, ROHS, and REACH. Includes handling customer surveys.

• Ensures Sustainability Reporting. Facilitates sites’ continuing improvements towards ‘Zero Waste’ /minimal impact, engaging ops management and our project engineering team as necessary.

• Engages in MOC (management of change) and Project Systems Design work to ensure consideration of short- long-term environmental compliance and best practice.

• Conducts virtual and field environmental compliance audits. Produces high quality audit reports in a timely way. Uses the designated Linde Global HSE Assessment Management Platform. HSE ESG business team participation in supporting all aspects of site audit readiness.

• Acts as liaison to LGE Environmental Team.

• Supports incident investigations as requested, ensuring clarity of root causes and S.M.A.R.T. corrective/preventative action plans, with associated case management in LIDAP HSE Incident Management platform.

• Supports a Goals-driven HSE culture of data-informed continuous improvement by generating relevant reports and metrics.

• Maintains a thorough knowledge of new regulatory requirements and electronics-industry environmental best practices. Participates in building regular Electronics HSE-driven communication to the business for awareness of current topics.

• As part of HSE business resource team, provides support during any incident and for HSE improvement projects in general.

• Various other assignments as directed.

• 5 years of experience in an operations/chemical manufacturing environment. Preferred candidate will have knowledge/experience in chemical industrial setting and environmental compliance.

• Knowledge of inorganic chemistry preferred.

• Excellent knowledge of Federal and State environmental regulations. Prefer experience with electronics/specialty gases industry.

• Training/Presentation skills to large and small groups. Ability to organize and present instructional/ informative information.

• Strong communications and interpersonal skills. Able to develop, lead and/or work on teams. Able to interact effectively with site personnel and senior management.

• Hands-on and acts with a sense of urgency. Exercises restraint, knowing when to get Linde guidance before communicating with third-party agencies.

• Must be proficient in computer skills including Word, Excel PowerPoint, and file management (familiarity with Sharepoint is a plus). Comfort level learning to navigate custom databases. Ability to read PIDs.

• Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time.
