Position: Environmental Specialist

Location: Barrow Island

Point of Hire: Perth

Indicative Term of Contract: 24 months

Roster: 14/14

 

Must have skills:

Environmental qualification (degree or diploma). Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing business needs and priorities. Demonstrated ability to take a ‘one team’ approach working in a small team and collaborating effectively with others.

 

Nice to have skills:

Prior experience in a field based environmental role. Prior experience in assurance and fauna handling.

 

The Environment Specialist’s duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Providing practical environmental guidance and support to the WA Oil Asset (frontline teams, leaders and Business Partners) with a focus on compliance with environmental regulatory requirements and driving environmental performance improvement using Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) principles Conducting field based environmental safeguard assurance, verification and validation activities Supporting site based environmental activities, including ground and vegetation disturbance, environmental assessments and fauna handling activities Support development and delivery of environmental training and awareness initiatives to increase environmental fluency Building productive working relationships across all stakeholders, including Asset Personnel, Business Partners, HSE, and other support teams, to facilitate alignment and execution efficiency of environmental activities, safeguards and processes Facilitate incident investigations and learning events using Chevron approved Incident investigation methodologies (e.g. 5-Why, SAFE, Y-tree and Learning Teams)
