This position requires vast technical knowledge within all environmental health programs. The incumbent must have ability to exercise discretion and make independent professional judgments within all environmental health programs. Responsibilities include, food hygiene program coordinator, conducting routine inspections of food hygiene facilities, mobile home, lodging, recreational vehicle parks, recreational camps, group care facilities, public swimming pools, tattoo establishments, biomedical waste facilities, conducting water well construction inspections, monitoring and conducting routine inspections of limited use public water systems, investigating complaints and preparing reports, legal notices and other documents. Position functions independently and under the direction of the Environmental Manager. This position is headquartered at the Florida Department of Health in Hendry County, Division of Environmental Health in (LaBelle). Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Knowledge of environmental principles, practices, & procedures + Knowledge of correct spelling, punctuation and grammar usage + Knowledge of basic computer skills, the Environmental Health Database program and Environmental Health Database Mobile App + Knowledge of field equipment required, including but not limited to digital camera, and other equipment as deemed necessary to perform facility inspections. + Incumbent will be assigned a county vehicle and will be responsible for maintaining and operating the vehicle per state and county regulations. + Skill in using basic water testing equipment and producers. + Skill in using GPS unit. + Ability to operate general office equipment. + Ability to frequently use, telephone, computer, copier, and small hand tools, i.e.: stapler, scissors, etc. + Ability to follow office procedures and practices. + Ability to handle telephone calls in a courteous and effective manner. + Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. + Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. + Ability to understand, interpret, and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. + Ability to prioritize individual workload. + Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds as needed. + Ability to frequently bend, kneel, reach, and sit or stand for long periods of time. + Ability to work with occasional loud noises indoors and/or outdoors. + Ability to work outdoors with various temperature changes. + Ability to walk for long periods of tome or great distances. + Ability to locate information that is listed alphabetically and numerically. + Ability to follow instructions. + Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness. + Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision. + Ability to read maps and drive in unincorporated Areas of Hendry and Glades Counties Qualifications: + A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with major course work in environmental health, environmental science, or a physical science or biological science with a total of at least 30 semester hours or 40 quarter hours of undergraduate coursework in these sciences. + A valid Florida driver's license or the ability to obtain one prior to hire + Willing to work additional hours in the event of a disaster or as needed.
