We are currently seeking an Environmental Management Specialist to support a wide variety of environmental projects in Latham NY. The preferred candidates will have field experience working at Superfund and other contaminated sites, running complex field programs, preparing planning documents and preparing reports for environmental characterization and remediation projects. The preferred candidate will ensure field work is performed on schedule, and costs and materials are in compliance with contract terms and conditions.
As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by:
• Perform inspections and maintenance of remedial systems, to confirm the systems are functioning properly in accordance with operations manuals and regulatory criteria.
• Perform groundwater monitoring and cap mowing/trimming at remediation sites, in accordance with approved work plans and regulatory criteria
• Provide oversight of drilling and sampling personnel working on small investigations may also occur.
• Performing work involving conventional and straightforward plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment
• Performing engineering design for environmental projects, including preparation of drawings, specifications, calculations, and developing operation, maintenance, and monitoring plans.
• Reviewing draft assessments and calculations for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Working on a variety of assignments, which may include, field studies, research investigations, construction oversight, data interpretation and evaluation, or report preparation.
• Ensuring that firm policies and practices are followed on all assessments.
• Independently evaluating, selecting, and applying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Using professional judgment and knowledge of principles/techniques in making minor adaptations and modifications.
• Possibly supervising or coordinating the work of draftsmen, technicians and others assisting in specific assignments.
• Learning project management techniques and the CDM Smith management system.
• Managing tasks on large projects or phases of small projects.
• Developing external client interaction and marketing skills.
• Performing engineering design for environmental projects, including preparation of drawings, specifications, calculations, and other design deliverables, and developing operation, maintenance, and monitoring plans.
• Coordinate work with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and scientists, designers, draftsmen, and technicians to successfully design and implement innovative technologies.
• Ensuring that firm policies and required practices are followed in all project work.
• Learning task/project management techniques and the CDM Smith management system.
