Environmental Supervisor

Primary Responsibilities

The Environmental Supervisor supervises, coordinates, and performs the activities of the Housekeeping and Laundry Departments in accordance with current federal and state standards, guidelines and regulations as well as company policy and procedures.

Essential Functions

Supervises Environmental Services Staff Prepare department schedules, as well as the daily assignments of individuals working in the Housekeeping and Laundry Departments. Assist in housekeeping and laundry duties as appropriate for patient census and staff scheduling. Prepare reports and recommendations for the Administrator regarding the operation of the Housekeeping and Laundry departments. Report all incidents, accidents, hazardous conditions or equipment to Administrator. Inspect work areas and equipment frequently for safety, fire protection and prevention, etc. Comply with established infection control and universal precaution practices and coordinated routine/terminal isolation procedures with nursing services, as well as follow fire safety policies and procedures. Make routine rounds and authorize or conduct tours with others, such as the Administrator, other facility staff, visitors and others. Activities include: managing shift changes, performing inspections, training employees, scheduling, monitoring and controlling use of supplies and equipment, filling out necessary forms and paperwork, enforcing policy and procedure compliance, ensuring excellent customer relations. Duties also include: cleaning floors; damp dusting furniture and fixtures; cleaning, emptying trash receptacles; washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents and lights; changing light bulbs; performing non-routine floor care duties (buffing, shampooing, etc.); inspecting, replacing curtains; checking, stocking soap, paper supplies; hauling out trash, moving furniture.
