Job Summary

Supervises and coordinates the activities of cleaning personnel assigned to units to ensure a clean, orderly, and attractive environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum Years of Experience: 2 Years of experience in Healthcare Housekeeping whether gained from employment or technical training.
Substitutable Education & Experience: None
Required Certifications/Licensure: None
Required Training: Thorough knowledge of all tasks in Healthcare Environmental Services.

Essential Functions Supervises environmental services staff to ensure requirements for the medical center is maintained to meet regulatory and accreditation standards. Maintenance of an optimistic, professional, career oriented demeanor (positive role model) as a leader within your area at LMC.  Exemplifies excellent customer relations toward the patient, visitors, physicians, and staff.  Hold self and subordinates accountable for conformity to Service Excellence Policies. Assigns daily work schedule for routine activities and special projects.  Ensures timely and efficient service is provided to assigned areas. Inspects each discharge unit.  Records discrepancies and insures corrections are made.  Greets patient if room is occupied. Supervises and works with Environmental Assistant in cleaning assigned areas.  Performs special cleaning tasks in accordance with departmental procedures. Participates on various committees inside the hospital. Orients new employees and closely supervises them until fully trained according to departmental policies and procedures.  Documents training. Duties & Responsibilities Evaluates performance, and counsels assigned employees for policy and procedure violations. Interviews and assist department managers in the selection of prospective employees. Has knowledge of the age specific criteria for evaluation of care delivery for Infant(1 –12 month), Child (1 year through 12 years), Adolescent (13 years through 17 years), Adult (18 years through 65 years) and Geriatric (over 65 years). Assist in the development of departmental policies and procedures. Ensures preventative maintenance program is maintained to provide sanitation and care of all carpet, furniture, walls, floors, drapes, ect.  Documents completed maintain. Evaluates and makes recommendations regarding Environmental Services supplies and equipment. Ensures that patient room furnishings are in good repair. Initiates work orders when Furnishings  need repair. Responsible for continuing education of self and for promoting continuing education of  assigned employees. Subject to recall 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week and is responsible for department activity on weekends and holidays or in the absence of the director or Manager. Ensure Hazardous Waste or Hazardous Waste Pharmaceuticals are discarded, stored, and managed with other compatible waste streams in containers that are properly labeled and closed prior to being shipped offsite for proper disposal.  Initial RCRA training is received within 6 months of the hire date and continuing with annual RCRA training. Performs all other duties as assigned by authorized personnel or as requested in an emergency (fire or disaster).
