The Environmental Technician position is located at 1 Elba Island Road, Savannah, GA 31404. This is a Monday through Friday position. Primary Purpose:
The Environmental Technician will provide daily technical environmental support to facility operations and will be responsible for facility level oversight of permits and maintaining regulatory compliance with environmental procedures and policies associated with federal, state, local and company requirements. This position will also be tasked with implementing regional EHS initiatives and reporting results to Regional Field Environmental Services (FES) Specialist, as well as facility Compliance Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Perform various environmental field compliance activities including inspections, compliance sampling, field investigations, and compliance assessments
+ Prepare and maintain documentation related to field inspections, including checklists, reports, spreadsheets and related data
+ Serve as the facility lead for SPCC, DOT Hazmat, Waste and Water (Drinking Water/Wastewater) compliance programs, policies and procedures
+ Serve as facility lead for environmental action items in OpsInfo/Maximo
+ Develop and maintain record filing system in coordination with Regional FES Specialist to allow its accurate and timely retrieval
+ Lead and/or assist in the development and implementation of site-specific environmental programs and procedures
+ Assist in conducting facility compliance training
+ Support facility audits and agency inspections in coordination with facility Compliance Manager
+ Effectively communicate and coordinate activities with facility Compliance Manager and Regional FES Specialist to provide progress status and ensure the completion of environmental compliance tasks
+ Assist in emergency planning and preparation including the scheduling and conducting of drills and exercises
+ Must be accountable and take direction from facility Compliance Manager on a daily basis, keep required work schedules, and focus attention on details
+ Responsible for hazardous waste, universal waste and non-hazardous waste for the facility including inspections, scheduling and coordination of shipping activities, tracking all facility waste profiles and analyses, etc.
+ Responsible for Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plan for the facility including monthly and annual inspections, ensuring the completion of secondary containment drainage logs, tracking follow-up items from inspections and review of SPCC Plan for updates
+ Responsible for Water Programs for the facility including inspections, sampling, calibration and use of field equipment (pH Meter), eDMR data entry, and BMP inspections
+ Responsible for DOT Hazmat for the facility including inspections and verification that paperwork (BOL, manifest, checklists) is completed according to DOT and company requirements
+ Assist Field Environmental Services and Operations with the completion of other environmental-related tasks related to environmental reporting and OpsInfo/Maximo compliance tasks
+ Recommend updates, as necessary, to compliance programs, policies, procedures, training programs, etc.
+ Assist in preparation of written reports and periodic agency submittals as required by regulatory agencies and by company
+ Provide technical support, training and guidance to all areas of operations at the facility
+ Interact closely and work with Field Environmental Services on compliance-related tasks, as well as members of operations, maintenance and other company personnel as required

Education:
+ A related Associate or Bachelor’s degree is preferred
Experience/Specific Knowledge:
+ Previous work experience in an industrial environment in an environmental compliance position is highly preferred
+ Familiarity with environmental permits is a plus
+ Knowledge of GEPD and EPA regulations is a plus
Certification, Licenses, Registrations:
+ Must meet the criteria to obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) as required by USCG/DHS regulations

+ Good oral and written communications
+ Must be proficient in the use of computer and applications (Microsoft Office, database, and internet search engines)
+ Must be proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint application

+ Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color perception and the ability to adjust focus
Working Conditions:
+ Position is generally assigned a daytime schedule but will be required to work extended hours to include nights and weekends if necessary
+ Must be available for 24 hour call-in
+ Tasks are performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions
