This position would be part of a very skilled team that performs airborne monitoring, noise monitoring, indoor air quality surveys, asbestos and lead based paint surveys, safety audits, and other activities. Job Description:
This position will be based in Concord, California and provide support for projects primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area and as well as northern California.
As an Environmental Technician II under supervision, you will conduct initial building inspections, perform asbestos and lead abatement oversight, and assist project managers with industrial hygiene inspections. You will evaluate analytical results, prepare assessment reports, and develop recommendations. In addition, you will support other environmental services such as Limited Site Investigations and regulatory compliance, as needed.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:Perform or assist building inspections for asbestos-containing building materials in accordance with regulatory guidelines.Sample painted coatings and building materials in residential, commercial and industrial settings.Perform visual inspections and air monitoring during asbestos abatement and lead related work projects.Calibrate, clean and maintain field monitoring equipment, such as air sample pumps, primary and secondary standards, and microscopes.Prepare field paperwork including chains of custody and field sample diagrams.Perform indoor air quality, exposure assessments, and other industrial hygiene assessments under the direction of a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)Provide assistance to other field project and management personnel.Transport equipment, specimens or documents to field personnel, laboratory, clients or other offices, and provide physical assistance in equipment set-up.Assist other technicians or professional staff on routine tasksFollow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.Will be placed in a progressively increased role of training and responsibility in work assignments.Typical duties will include assisting with and conducting asbestos, lead, and hazardous materials surveys of buildings; abatement contractor monitoring and air sampling; assistance with indoor air quality investigations; other industrial hygiene investigations; and report preparation.

Minimum Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent.Valid driver's license, an acceptable violation history, and a reliable automobile.California Department of Safety and Health (DOSH) Site Surveillance Technician (SST), or DOSH Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC).California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Lead Sampling Technician.1 - 3 years of relevant experience.Ability to climb ladders, lift/carry equipment (generally up to 50 lbs.), stand for prolonged periods of time.Periodic nights and weekend work.Ability to travel with stays away for 1 - 2 weeks.
A Bachelor of Science is preferred. Applicants with asbestos experience as a consultant or contractor, or with a Cal/OSHA Site Surveillance Technician or Asbestos Consultant certification are strongly preferred.

Preferred Certification:CDPH Lead Inspector Assessor or Project Monitor CertificationOther national, regional, state, and local environmental related certifications requiring experience and written examination will also be considered if deemed appropriate by the Terracon Department ManagerNational Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) 582 equivalency trained and proficient in airborne fiber analysis.

The expected salary range for this position is listed below. The base range may be adjusted based on the specific location of the applicant. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
