Job Description

We are seeking an Environmental Test Technician to join our team in Elmhurst, IL. This is an entry-level opportunity in the environmental industry that does not require previous experience. The role offers the chance for advancement within 6 to 12 months to a Test Engineer I position. The company provides OSHA 10-hour certification training and a full benefits package for permanent employees.

ResponsibilitiesPerform third-party EPA air emissions testing and monitoring for clients, typically at industrial or manufacturing sites.Transport equipment to testing sites using a company vehicle, set up and break down testing equipment.Record data and collect samples during testing.Calibrate equipment before and during tests.Assist engineers in air quality testing procedures.Follow environmental, health, and safety protocols.Organize and load testing equipment into vehicles for upcoming jobs.Maintain and clean testing equipment.Study for and obtain certifications for EPA Test Methods 1-5 using company resources.Essential SkillsOSHA 10 certificationPrevious experience in a field-based or hands-on positionMechanical aptitudeComfortable working at heights and lifting up to 75 lbsTeam player mentalityMinimum High School Diploma1+ year of experience in field testing/maintenance, industrial, or other hands-on roles is preferredAdditional Skills & QualificationsB.S. The role involves working in the field at industrial sites such as power plants, steel mills, refineries, and manufacturing plants. Candidates must be prepared to set up tests at heights ranging from 100 to 400 feet above ground level, where temperatures are lower and winds are higher. Workdays in the field typically range from 8 to 10+ hours, while warehouse days are 8 hours. Team sizes can vary from 3 to 20 members depending on the project. Appropriate attire includes jeans, long-sleeve t-shirts, boots (non-steel toe), coats, and stocking caps for colder months. Candidates must be open to varying travel schedules, with jobs ranging from a single day to an entire work week. Occasional weekend work may be required, but likely not more than once a month. On non-field days, tasks include preparing testing equipment, loading vehicles, cleaning, and general maintenance in the warehouse. Job consistency can vary due to inclement weather or the slower winter season, with candidates potentially working in the warehouse or home office during these times. Larger projects may require long days and up to 60 hours per week, including paid travel time.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00
