ERM is seeking for Environmental/Town Planners to be based in our Brisbane office. This is an exciting opportunity for fresh graduates or junior professionals looking to advance their career with a global environmental leader. The successful candidate will be involved with facilitating the planning and environmental approvals process for a range of large-scale renewable energy projects. As a junior consultant you will be involved with the day-to-day dealings of delivering these projects overseen by the project manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in environmental science, Urban and Regional Planning, Town and Regional Planning, Environmental planning or similar environmental degree.
Brisbane/South-East Queensland based.
Basic understanding of Queensland planning legislation, in particular Planning Act 2016, Planning Regulation 2017 and Development Assessment Rules. This includes but not limited to assessment timeframes, referral requirements and heads of power.
Basic understanding of Local Government planning framework in Queensland. This includes general understanding and navigation of Local Environment Plan and Development Control Plan, planning schemes/development schemes, categories of assessment (accepted, code, impact) and their requirements, strategic framework, zoning and land use, overlays and codes.
Ability to interpret sites/locations through - Real Property Description (RPD), Area, Local Government Area, Relevant Regional Plan, Planning Scheme Zone, Planning Scheme Overlays, State Overlays (SPP & DAMS), Local Environment Plan and Regional plans
Strong written and communication skills.
Able to use Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to problem solve and interpret information and data.
Reliable and willing to learn and take on challenging projects.
