Position DescriptionTo manage the End of Line Test (EOLT) Department at Leeds and Bradford in which the primary objective is to ensure that all aspects of testing of finished units/ systems is completed, product safety is maintained and reliability is assured in line with published product specifications. The position reports to the Head of Quality with a dotted-line relationship with the respective Plant Manager at Leeds and Bradford.
Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the team of EOLT Test Engineers on a day-to-day basis, provide on-the-job training and assistance when they are unable to overcome problems and generally drive the performance of the team. Ensure that all products are functionally tested in accordance with applicable Test Procedures and that formal quality control (‘QC’) checks are undertaken of all finished units/ systems to ensure full compliance with product quality assurance requirements. Liaise with the respective Plant Manager, as appropriate, in relation to scheduling, throughput, despatch priorities, deadlines and growth targets. Concerns Logs – ensure that faults are recorded and reported to relevant departments (e.g. Product Development, Engineering, Commercial Controls, Manufacturing, etc). Work with those departments to ensure that required corrective/ preventive actions are implemented in a timely manner. Witness Testing (EOLT) – assist customer witnessed testing to ensure that product safety and the reliability of the customer’s product is assured in line with published specifications. Ensure that test documentation and records are correctly completed and retained for all units/ systems – e.g. Test Sheets. Strong working relationship with other departments including Manufacturing, Technical Support, Service, Product Development, Engineering, Commercial Controls and R&D Test House. Development, implementation and continuous improvement of EOLT quality systems, processes, SOM Test Procedures and Storyboards. Ensure that planned preventive maintenance routines are undertaken at prescribed intervals for EOLT equipment. Order new and replacement tools and equipment for the EOLT department, as required. Perform DMAIC investigations and structured problem solving using DMAIC tools and methodologies for problems identified by external customer complaints and on-site concerns raised by Commissioning and Technical Support Teams which involve a failure of EOLT to detect the fault(s) – ‘why not detect/ why shipped’. Critique proposed Design FMEA actions for new product developments that apply to EOLT, provide feedback on testing capability and implement agreed actions, as appropriate. F-Gas Register – ensure that accurate records are retained of the volume of refrigerant used in each unit/ system. Assist other Modine plants and the setting-up of new Modine plants with EOLT training for testing of transferred products and the development of related test documentation.Accountabilities

Act as a ‘change agent’ with a strong focus on ‘Voice of the Customer’ in developing a proactive and preventive quality improvement culture and mindset within the EOLT department. Develop and drive the ‘Airedale Quality Improvement Plan’ within the EOLT department. Develop the competence and capability of the EOLT Test Engineers. Generate individual training and development plans to progressively upskill and develop technical skills, capability and know-how in the role (e.g. thermodynamics and refrigeration, water side, air, electrical, fault finding, controls, safety, test documentation, product EOLT knowledge). Develop a comprehensive succession plan to progressively build the strength and resilience of the EOLT Team that includes opportunities to assist site works (e.g. Technical Support) and potential project secondments to develop current and future Test Engineers.Required Education & Qualifications HNC or degree qualified in an Engineering or Science based subject. Proven experience gained in a manufacturing and/ or technical environment. Factory-build knowledge and experience of products, how the work should be undertaken and the importance of it being visually correct and compliant with agreed quality standards. Strong knowledge of structured problem solving techniques (e.g. Operational Excellence/ DMAIC/ Lean Six Sigma Toolbox) and experienced in improvement methodologies. Excellent communication, analytical, problem solving and IT skills (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint). Positive attitude with a ‘can do’ mindset when faced with a challenge.
