Job Title EOP Peer Tutor Fall 2024-Spring 2025 Department Educational Opportunity Program Office Job Description/Duties EOP is looking for tutors in a variety of subjects, including, but not limited to, biology, chemistry, mathematics, sociology, anthropology, psychology, and business. The EOP tutor will work one-on-one with student(s) providing academic support and assistance in predetermined courses based on tutor qualifications and need(s) of student(s). Tutors need to be able to explain the material well. The tutor may be called upon to assist in study methods or techniques, note-taking and organizational skills. The tutor will work independently with the student(s) to schedule tutoring times and will work with the student and the EOP Academic Counselor to resolve any issues that arise. The EOP Academic Counselor will review tutor performance including feedback from student(s). Days/Hours Needed Days and times will vary in order to accommodate the schedules of the tutor and the student(s). Tutor may work 1 – 20 hours per week, depending on the tutor’s availability, number of students, student(s)’ availability, and the need(s) of the student(s). Campus Location/Bldg. Students and Tutors can meet in the library, Bowers, or any public campus location that is conducive to study. Some students may be required to meet with their tutors in the EOP suite in Old Main 136 Required Qualifications All candidates must be undergraduate students at SUNY Cortland, have at least a 2.3 cumulative GPA, B+ or better in the course(s) to be tutored, understand the course material and be able to explain course concepts. Tutors must have at least (2) letters of recommendations from SUNY Cortland course instructors.
