*POSITION SUMMARY:*

The Electrophysiology Invasive Specialist provides electrophysiology procedural support in
compliance with regulatory and department processes in a timely, safe and efficient manner.
The Electrophysiology Invasive Specialist is proficient in all aspects of electrophysiology, sterile
preparation, assessment, documentation, and monitoring. The Electrophysiology Invasive
Specialist will assist in other procedural areas (i.e., cardiac cath, interventional radiology) when
needed.
*PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:*

· Assists physicians to enhance hemodynamic and angiographic techniques and anticipates equipment needs.
· Sets up and monitors EP recording computer monitor system, labels printouts, displays electrode combinations, measures cycle and interval lengths, reports changes to physician.
· Records temporary playback of procedure for initial, immediate review by physician.
· Assists physicians with mapping, stimulating, and catheter insertions as required.
· Adheres to approved standards of aseptic technique in prepping patients and during procedures.
· Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment for the patient in the Lab.
· Facilitates implementation of physician's orders accurately, promptly, and courteously.
· Promotes interdepartmental/client relationships with positive interactive skills, maintaining a professional, team-oriented working environment.
· Recognizes potential emergency/life threatening situations and implements preventative measures as directed by the physician.
· Assigns and supervises accordingly those assigned to him/her by the Supervisor/Manager.
· Performs all aspects of monitoring, recording, scrubbing, and holding room responsibilities with exceptional level of professionalism and expertise.
· Perform all aspects of circulating, with exception of Conscious Sedation/Narcotic drug therapy as ordered by physician. Maintains a working knowledge of drugs commonly used in the Lab.
· Demonstrates and practices proper protection measures to ensure radiation safety and minimize risk of exposure to possible hazardous materials.
· Capable of performing CQI daily. Operates, problem-solves and improvises for common equipment malfunctions.
· Ensures all supplies are properly rotated or removed from procedure areas and all supplies and medications are properly charged to each patient accurately.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:*
* *
· Education: for Technologist
· Graduate of program in Cardiopulmonary Technology, Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, Respiratory Therapy, Radiological Technology, or EMS-P
· OR, Two (2) years of EP Lab experience in lieu of education
· Education: for RN
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
· Licensure: for RN
· Current/Valid State of Florida RN License or endorsement
· Certification:
· Must hold current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
· AHA ACLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card must be obtained within 90 days of hire and maintain thereafter for Special Procedures Units.
• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Ability to take call acknowledging emergency alerts within five (5) minutes and present to hospital within 30 minutes of alert
· Ability to work long variable hours
· Potential for possible exposure to radiation
· Ability to wear lead aprons for extended periods of time
· Ability to perform in a stressful environment and respond appropriately in life threatening situations
· Great communication skills in an active team environment
· Basic computer skills including knowledge of MS Office – Outlook and Word
· Ability to assess and interpret data
· Ability to clearly communicate with patient/family at various levels of understanding
*PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:*

• Certification: RCES
• Work Experience: At least one (1) year of EP specific lab experience
*PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Moderate*

• Physically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently
• Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance
• May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or over head
• May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift
• May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to loud noise
• May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles
