Air Products (NYSE: APD) is a world-leading Industrial Gases company in operation for over 80 years, has an immediate opening in our Global Engineering/Computational Technology organization for a creative and inquisitive individual based at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania or our project office in Houston, Texas. AP develops world-scale energy and industrial gases projects that provides renewable and sustainable energy solutions as well as atmospheric and process gases and related equipment to manufacturing markets, including refining and petrochemical, metals, electronics, and food and beverage. Air Products is also the world’s leading supplier of liquefied natural gas process technology and equipment.

 Air Products Product lines, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) organization works closely with the Computational Technology team to improve the competitiveness of our EPC work process and implement world-class digital solutions to achieve a high-performing project execution organization. The team delivers competitive digital technology advancements for AP across EPC, Product, and Operation areas, including enterprise applications, unique engineering and procurement data solutions, and data sciences analytics solutions. The computational development engineers work with the entire Product Line, EPC, and operational teams, to deliver world-class solutions from data solutions to advanced AI.

The successful candidate will lead enterprise deployment work supporting world-class unique data and ML/AI technology solutions for AP’s engineering, project control, procurement, and construction functions. The candidate will be leading deployment projects, test data and analytics solutions and support development team. The candidate will work as part of cross-functional technology, engineering, and IT teams supporting conceptual and detailed digital solutions, AI analytics, and work automation solutions.  This position requires a broad engineering, procurement, construction and understanding of data architecture, advanced analytics, and application development. The candidate will be required to solve various problems, which involve complex engineering work processes, complex data relations and enterprise data, deployment challenges and effectively communicate the progress of deployment activities to stake holders. This position involves up to 10% travel to global locations.

Existing project areas where the candidate can expect to be involved include:

Participate in the development of digital solutions to support Green, Blue H2 projects for engineering, project control, and procurement work processes.Participate in the development of analytics solutions for Project Controls including, budgets, forecasts and spent historical data as well as multi-project probabilistic procurement analytics.Support current computational solutions, develop tests, conduct maintenance, and debugging activities.Supervise/guide software engineers, responsible for their schedule, performance, and development.Responsible for digital solution architecture improvement and debugging activities.Collaborate with business/product owners to understand the business needs and create ideas to support these needs and offer solutions. Design data storage and analytics solutions for the EPC, product development, and operation.Lead deployment projects involving technical problem definition, deployment planning, business integration strategy, work process updates and stakeholder communications.Write technical reports, project proposals.

The candidate will be expected to learn company processes, software, and cloud infrastructure as needed for specific projects. To that end, the following skills will be beneficial:

Experience in leading the development of computational solutions in the areas defined.Experience in database and cloud technologiesExperience in technical evaluations of ideas/projectsInterest in understanding business needs and passion to create world-class data solutions to support those needs.

Qualifications / Skills

Minimum BS, MS in analytics/data sciences is preferred.5-10 years of experience in related industryTrack record of successful solution development in an engineering environmentStrong knowledge in databases, application development environments, and data science toolsCreative & innovative with a positive attitude Ability to function well in a multi-disciplinary team environment.Strong verbal and written communications skillsAble to work within and lead interdisciplinary, global project teams.Knowledgeable in modern SQL and NoSQL database technologiesAbility to deploy enterprise-wide digital analytics solution for engineering and procurement projects.Experience with Data Science Tools (e.g., Python and R) and how to apply them to derive data-driven insight pertaining to EPC use-cases.Experience with developing and deploying Engineering, Procurement and Construction analytics projects is a plus
