The Equipment and Smallwares Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing daily purchasing activities including negotiation of terms and contractual conditions for equipment and supply purchases. This position is responsible for the planning, organizing, and forecasting for all equipment and smallwares purchases for the company on a global scale.
\n• Manages the planning, costing, negotiating, and purchasing process for more than $30 million in equipment, small wares, and replacement parts buys annually.
\n• Negotiates all vendor agreements. • Creates, develops and implements strategic purchasing programs.
\n• Develops and tests all new equipment and products for increased efficiencies and lower costs.
\n• Develops and maintains food service specifications and Design Team projects for all Five Guys’ restaurants.
\n• Evaluates all equipment suppliers and their products/offerings and benchmarks their performance against industry standards.
\n• Performs documentary research and/or item examination necessary to identify and described requested equipment;
\n• Provides technical data necessary to ensure accurate procurement descriptions;
\n• Manages the RFI & RFP process for all equipment and small wares and makes recommendations on contract award.
\n• Evaluates various prototype models and examines the entire piece of equipment to determine adequacy of moving parts, tolerances, dimensions, weight, construction, and composition.
\n• Assists franchisees in ordering equipment, and assists in the integration of new franchisees to the Five Guys system.
\n• Develop new or modified techniques for repair or maintenance of equipment
\n• Participates in the budgeting process and assists the Director in preparing annual projections.
\n• Responsible for the resolution of purchasing complaints, comments and issues received from all locations.
\n• Communicate, track and summarize product recalls/withdrawals
\n• Works with all departments to seek input from and provide feedback to field operations including training, and FGO.
\n• Work with leadership to drive cost saving initiatives and efficiencies
\n• Maintains new vendor setup system and negotiates terms and costs.
