SUMMARY
This position is part of our Equipment Engineering team. The physical location is Manson’s Houma, LA yard. Duties include participation in design, 3D modelling, and creation of fabrication drawings in support of marine equipment design, maintenance and construction. Will also assist with the development of CAD and modeling standards.
There is approximately 10-15% travel to job sites and Manson yards for this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Additional duties may be assigned.
Prepare models and drawings based on field measurements, verbal description, or sketches provided by senior designers, engineers, or end users. Develop 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings using Solidworks. Develop 2D Autodesk AutoCAD drawings suitable for fabrication use. Inspection and quality assurance of 3rd party fabrications per drawing/fabrication specifications. Adapt to company drawing procedures, standards, and revision controls. Responsible for practicing safe work standards and promoting an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment. Ensures compliance with Manson’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct.QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum 2 year degree in a drafting or design related program. Preferred 5 to 8 years industry experience within marine construction or heavy civil/fabrication/manufacturing industries. Knowledge of manufacturing processes including welding, assembly and machining, and industry standards for mechanical drafting required. Quality assurance and field inspection experience in heavy civil/fabrication/manufacturing setting preferred.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver’s license required.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Advanced knowledge of Solidworks (specifically part weldment/structural system features and drawings), working knowledge of AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position spends approximately 80% of the time at a desk work station and 20% of the time in the field accessing cranes, barges, dredges, tug boats, construction work sites, etc. This position includes working outside in adverse weather; and exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and a moderate noise level. Employee will be required to walk, stand, and climb in an environment of heights.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position is primarily an office position, performs work at a desk. The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use stairs, ladders, and step stools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employee must be able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) in order to conduct job site visits (hard hats, personal floatation devices, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed shoes, respirators, etc.), and able to navigate stairs, ladders and gangways, board, work on and disembark floating vessels and structures.
