As a leading developer, manufacturer, and global supplier of scientific laboratory products for 100 years, Corning’s Life Sciences segment collaborates with researchers seeking new approaches to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and compress timelines in the drug discovery process. Day to Day Responsibilities: Lead equipment development or upgrade for new product and process and automation system. Lead and execute cost saving projects through introduction of new materials, processes, and creative design. Use statistical methods and engineering tools for product and process analysis. Implement effective performance monitoring and tracking system. Provides day-to-day problem-solving support to production, development and operations. Trouble shoots related equipment issues, identifies root cause and implements corrective action. Use PEx tools to continuously improve the process to achieve manufacture performance excellence. Develop and implement projects to support cost reduction, OEE and other manufacture objectives. Trains new equipment/automation operation and processes. Assures safety of operators and equipment and complies with safety and environmental regulations. Develop automation system/equipment specification, troubleshooting checklist and maintenance plan. Create and define the spare parts list. Provide high level technical support and engage vendor for repair when necessary. Monitor and track the equipment performance. Continuously improve equipment reliability and efficiency to achieve manufacture performance excellence. Coordinate with division engineer on equipment related technology synchronization/transfer activities.Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree or above of Manufacturing Engineering / Electrical & Control Engineering. At least 10 years relevant equipment management experience in plastic and automation field.
Required Skills Good PLC knowledge, equipment design skills. Good Fanuc Robot control skills. Thorough understanding of how to optimize both equipment configuration and control logic to maximize part quality, reduce scrap and minimize cycle time. Good project management skills. Excellent equipment and part debug skill. Excellent root cause analysis skill. Basic Machine safety knowledge. On-site tooling qualification and operations management skills. Team player, self-motivated, self-managed, enthusiastic.
Desired Skills Understand injection molding and 2nd operation process. Understanding SolidWorks’ mechanical design skill. M.S. or equivalent technical degree. Business understanding & training highly recommended. Variety of research, development, engineering, operational, and / or plant experiences. Project Team focused on single or multiple technical discipline of increased complexity. External recognition such as Green / Yellow / Black Belt, Lean, PMI, Professional Engineering or Committee member of a technical society.
