Equipment Engineer

General Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in the oversight and administration of equipment maintenance, management, and repairs for the Alaska Region.

Essential Job Accountabilities

1.    Assist in oversight of the maintenance and repair of all equipment for the Alaska Region in accordance with Granite’s Corporate Equipment Standards.

2.    Responsible for the maintenance of equipment files including inventory, repair, maintenance, oil sampling, and servicing to ensure the preservation of company investments.

3.    Compare costs and best value of equipment repair including parts, contracting outside vendors, using in-house labor or equipment replacements to ensure the most cost-effective choices are made.

4.    Analyze & report equipment repair costs to help inform decisions on staffing & equipment rates. 

5.    Review & analyze owned asset and rental utilization to assist with the CAPEX process.

6.    Assist mechanics in initiating work orders through AMP.

7.    Assist the equipment manager and mechanics in reviewing timecard entries.

8.    Assist Equipment Manager in reviewing & approving repair and parts invoices.

9.    Complete special projects required to support the assigned facility as needed.
 

Education

BS in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management or related field preferred.


Work Experience

Part-time or internship experience in equipment or construction-related field preferred.


Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Strong leadership ability.

Practical knowledge of the function, operation and maintenance of construction equipment and/or education & experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.

Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and scheduling software and familiarity with accounting/financial software.

Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and organizational skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. At times will be working around large construction equipment, must be safety conscience.

Base Salary Range: 

$72,283.00 - $108,426.00

Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.  ​
