What You'll Work On

Develops and implements capital projects, troubleshoots machine and process problems, and conducts technical analysis of business opportunities for packaging equipment from filling through warehousing.Develops and applies advanced theories, methods and research techniques to the investigation and solution of complex technical problems; implements large cost reduction programs. Develops processes that lead to shortened cycle time; makes major impact decisions.As a technical specialist, is assigned problems which require unique design/research approaches to problems as well as is routinely called on to troubleshoot engineering problems critical to the Division or Corporation.Investigates/recommends novel technology and applications; develops, evaluates, implements strategic initiatives, leads projects/programs and technical team to develop significant new products or processes.Perform economic analysis and feasibility studies for the installation of new equipment and/or modification and revision of existing equipment.Develops cost estimates and scopes, reviews estimates and scopes with manager, and consults with manufacturing management regarding proposals for capital expenditures, repairs, and revisions.Investigates, develops, and recommends alternatives for design, procurement, and installation of new/modified equipment or systems for the optimal utilization and control of resources.Provides technical assistance and information to corporate engineering and outside consultants, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and various departments within the company.Participates and/or assists other engineers in the design of packaging equipment or systems for optimal performance as well as works with manufacturing plants to improve overall equipment effectiveness.Directs the start-up of new and troubleshoot existing equipment to ensure optimal operation and performance.Provides maintenance technical services. Develops preventative maintenance programs and recommend spare parts.Routinely provides analyses and advice to management; has direct contacts with outside consultants, technical counterparts from other divisions, companies, and key vendors.Establishes the approach and test procedures to be used, estimated time, expense, and staffing requirements for completions as well as specifies equipment, materials, and supplies required for the completion and implementation of technical projects. Is accountable for success of projects; may manage financial aspects of projects.

You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Pay and Shift

This is a salaried position working Monday through Friday on day shift.  This roles supports a 24/7 manufacturing site. Flexibility in hours is required to provide as needed support to all crews.

Required Qualifications

B.S. in Engineering with a preference for a Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.5+ years’ experience in engineering/project management or advanced education to achieve level of skill.Good communication skills, both written and verbal required.Possesses a working technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices, and procedures.Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.Strong leadership skills required. Interacts well with diverse groups within the operation and maintains strong working relationships with internal in a collaborative, fast-paced, goal-driven environment. 

Preferred Qualifications

Project management experience desired. Work experience in the food /medical industry under FDA regulation preferred.

The base pay for this position is $60,000.00 – $120,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
