Summary :The Equipment Maintenance Technician, Home Medical Equipment performs calibration, tracking, inspection, testing, repair, and routine preventative maintenance for diagnostic and therapeutic home care rental equipment. Documents work performed in the electronic maintenance system in accordance with department policies and regulations.

Job Description:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1) Applies technical, mechanical, and electronic knowledge of equipment standards and manufacturer recommendations, troubleshooting techniques, maintenance schedules, and documentation requirements to ensure proper function of equipment.

2) Performs diagnostic testing and preventative maintenance on all rental equipment utilizing testing equipment and tools to ensure proper functioning.

3) Assigns and tracks rental products with a rental number for easy verification.

4) Documents and records test results, maintenance, and repairs of patient and company-owned equipment within the electronic maintenance system according to department policy. Orders parts as needed.

5) Performs incident investigation and equipment performance analysis as required in response to notification by patient or team member. Reviews patient care equipment safety alerts and recall notices, and takes appropriate actions to ensure the affected equipment is tested and/or removed from service where appropriate.

6) Maintains a specific par level of rental equipment to meet customer demand. Orders equipment as needed.

7) Interacts and communicates with team members, customers, caregivers, and vendors to provide education and training on the proper use, care, and safety of equipment rented or purchased.

8) Coordinates and prioritizes maintenance and repair workload to keep customers informed about progress or possible delays. Escalates issues as necessary.

9) Assembles equipment as needed for customers and team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED

Two years of electrical and mechanical equipment functionality • Wisconsin driver’s license

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of eighty (80) pounds without assistance

Job classification may be exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

May be exposed to electrical, mechanical, chemical, and radiation hazards; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Normally works in climate controlled warehouse environment

Some delivery of equipment in company vehicle

Frequent sitting with movement throughout warehouse space • Use of computers throughout the work day

Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers
