Equipment Mechanic
**Job Title: Equipment Mechanic** **Job Description** We are looking for a skilled maintenance mechanic to join our team at the scrap yard. You will be responsible for the upkeep and repairs of trailers and heavy equipment, including forklifts, front end loaders, loaders, and Liebherr cranes. This role requires both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, as well as experience with hydraulic systems and air pumps and valves. **Shift available:** + **1st shift: Monday-Friday 6am - 4:30pm** **Pay rate:** + **$28 - $35/hour based on experience** **Responsibilities** + Perform mechanic repairs on tractor trailers and heavy equipment in the plant. + Conduct preventive maintenance such as greasing, oil changes, filter changes, and brake and light maintenance. + Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using prints or schematics. + Repair air leaks and air valves. + Perform heavy welding throughout on large metal/steel. + Service skid steers, material handlers, forklifts, and front end loaders. + Maintain hydraulic components and troubleshoot hydraulic issues. + Ensure equipment works properly by possibly running equipment on pad. + Keep work area clean and notify supervisor of needed or anticipated repairs. + Adhere to company site policies and safety procedures. **Essential Skills** + 5+ years experience working as a mechanic. + Experience with diesel engines on tractor trailers or heavy equipment. + Knowledge of hydraulic components and schematics. + Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues. + Experience with preventive maintenance tasks. + Welding and fabrication experience is a plus. + Ability to work out in the elements. **Why Work Here?** We offer a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance (eligible on the first day), HRA, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, STD/LTD, an Employee Assistance Program, 401(k) with matching and profit sharing, year-end and attendance bonuses, and more. The work environment is dirty, loud, and very safety-oriented. Employees must be comfortable working in a scrap yard and in all elements, including cold weather. Uniforms and colder weather gear are provided, but candidates must provide their own steel-toe boots.
