Summary This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Northwest Region, Wapato Irrigation in Wapato, Washington. Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment including, track equipment, motor graders, scrapers, front end loaders, ditchers, backhoes, cranes, draglines, excavators, gradalls, and trucks up to 25 tons. Operate on most types of moderate difficult terrain and areas such as near buildings trees, drip offs, rocks, or other obstructions. Operate equipment safely. Check grades from grade stakes or from laser grade shooting equipment. Assist mechanics in overhaul and repair of equipment. Keep field records on operation and equipment. Good depth perception and a high degree of concentration is required to perform the operations necessary to grade the surface, making decisions on work site with regard to proceeding with assigned work. Must be able to move the equipment about in confined areas. Maintain time schedules. BASIS OF RATING: The first job element is the screen-out element (Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision).
