About this RoleTRAVEL POSITION - Robinson Brothers Construction, LLC is seeking skilled Telecom/Underground Utilities Heavy Equipment Operators to join our traveling crew. Our contracts span the Pacific Northwest and the West Coast, encompassing the western states.
We are looking for talented individuals who are enthusiastic and ready to travel to various job sites.
About this Role
The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for the safe transportation of materials and equipment. This role includes loading and unloading equipment and materials as needed. Additionally, the operator will skillfully and safely operate and maintain various construction equipment, such as cable plows, backhoes, mini excavators, skid steers, rock saws, and other utility construction equipment.
What You'll DoPosition Responsibilities:
Operate all heavy machinery safely.Dig trenches, back-fill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications.Transport materials and equipment.Load and unload equipment and materials as needed.Follow all on-site safety procedures.Ensure contents and equipment are properly secured during transportation.Comply with all DOT regulations and rules.Perform daily vehicle pre-trip inspections and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA). What You'll BringPosition Qualifications:
Possess a valid CDL Class A (not required, but premium pay is included if held or obtained).Experience operating heavy equipment and machinery.Clean driving record (no more than 2 tickets in the last 5 years).Strong focus on quality and safety.Excellent time management skills.Willingness to perform all aspects of the job, including hand digging trenches if machinery cannot reach specific areas.Working Conditions:This is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. The role operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to various weather conditions, including extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high winds. The work environment will vary throughout the day, including changes in terrain, traffic, urban, and rural settings. There may be occasional exposure to natural gas and the risk of electrical shock, as well as moderate to loud noise levels.
Physical Requirements:The employee must be able to stand for long periods (up to 12 hours at a time), tolerate extreme weather conditions, and follow worksite safety instructions. The role requires prolonged and repeated activities such as hand digging, lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, feeling, crouching, and crawling. The employee must be able to regularly lift 50 pounds.
