Job Description Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Equipment Prep & Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position is ideal for a mechanic with experience working on small engines, equipment attachments, and performing basic inspections on heavy equipment. The primary responsibilities include maintenance, minor repairs, safety checks, and preparation of company equipment to ensure it is clean, operational, and ready for use. In addition, basic knowledge of equipment operating will be required as part of the equipment diagnosis and repair. This position is a shop position located in Port Clinton, Ohio.
Safety training by the company will be required for all team members. Out-of-town work is probable and may require travel of up to three weeks away from home at a time. Dependable attendance and punctuality are critical.
Responsibilities
+ Complete preventative maintenance on various equipment as assigned via HCSS E360 software on a company provided I-Pad. Training for the software will be provided. Basic computer skills will be required.
+ Perform general repairs as needed.
+ The ability to inspect and diagnose mechanical problems on both small engines and DOT related assets.
+ Accurately keep records.
+ Perform safety inspections on all equipment serviced.
+ Track, record, and enter the time spent for repairs along with a description of the work via the software mentioned above.
+ Coordinate and assist with parts ordering as needed.
+ Ability to communicate with crew foremen and equipment operators.
+ Basic welding of items as needed.
+ Pick up and deliver parts, tools, and small equipment to and from vendors, job sites, and the shop.
+ Follow Health and Safety regulations and procedures, including proper lifting techniques.
+ Follow DOT regulations, as needed, to operate and maintain heavy duty road trucks.
+ Knowledge and experience of DOT asset repair including pick-ups, dump trucks, lowboys, and trailers.
+ Travel to and from various jobs or off-site meetings which may include overnight stays and out of town travel, if needed.
Education and Qualifications
+ Must have a valid and current Driver’s license to operate a company vehicle. Must successfully complete the required items for Driver Qualification File (DQF). Ability to drive the company vehicle requires a successful passing of MVR, as well as a DOT physical.
+ Ability to properly use all power tools, welders, grinders, and hand tools.
+ Basic computer skills and ability to use computer based diagnostic software.
+ A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and organized work habits, allowing unsupervised work.
+ This position is based on a 45–55-hour workweek.
+ Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
+ Quality workmanship and competence in performing assigned responsibilities.
+ Ability to communicate issues and needs to proper supervision.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
+ Travel from site to site may be required.
+ Work environment will normally be an active construction site. Exposure to dust, noise, high heat, extreme cold, and rain should be expected.
+ Team member must be physically able to perform repetitive motion and heavy lifting, as described below.
+ Must be able to maintain effective audio and visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned
+ Must wear all employer-mandated personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, safety vests, and safety-toed work boots. Other PPE may be required from time to time depending on special safety concerns. All PPE will be provided by the company at no cost to the employee, other than safety
+ Must be able to hear with or without the use of a hearing device and clearly see at least 30 feet with or without the use of corrective vision
+ Must be able work while wearing a respirator if
+ Alternate standing and walking on uneven terrain surfaces, such as hillsides, muddy and icy soils, and other working surfaces. Safe negotiation of all types of surface conditions will always be required.
+ Bending, squatting, and kneeling will be required frequently during a workday.
+ Continual lifting of up to 50 lbs. for distances of 30 feet or
+ Constant pushing and pulling of certain tools and materials will be required over a day’s
+ The team member must be able to differentiate and / or identify colors.
+ Must have knowledge of occupational hazards in this field and standard safety practices. Must be able to pass the 30 Hour OSHA testing and First Aid/CPR requirements before starting work.
+ Must complete and meet requirements under the physical demands of this job description through a pre-employment physical examination.
