Job Overview:

Lead a collaborative team of equipment category specialists, equipment support reps and business analyst that manage supplier relationships, maintain SKU database, develop new supplier sales driven programs and consult with retailers on application of equipment. Responsible for managing the equipment sourcing best practices and efficiencies for $45M to $55M in annual equipment sales and gross margin targets. This position is focused on delivery high level customer service, sales promotions and driving cost savings through strategic sourcing practices.

Job Responsibilities:

•         Responsible for the work output from a team of equipment category specialist and analyst that enter database SKU descriptions, cutsheets, pricing and quotes that meet the service level goals for replacement equipment and projects.          25%

•         Lead the team on developing strategies to achieve the sales and profit goals for each equipment category that includes vendor negotiations, formal contracts, rebate programs, margin reviews, equipment promotions, and new services development.       25%

•         Primary point of contact for all major vendor performance disputes and resolution while preserving positive vendor relationships.          10%

•         Works in collaboration with the project management and design team on problem resolution, process improvement, sales presentations and developing new customer relationships. 10%

•         Establishes the policies and procedures for the sourcing, bidding and procurement of equipment and working with the customer support team and equipment project administrators to ensure timely completion of the projects within budget.          10%

•         Ensures equipment buying decisions are based on competitive comparison of product features, life cycle costs and vendor support capabilities.          10%

•         Proactively maintaining a pulse on grocery retail and consumer trends attending external conferences and webinars.          5%

•         Proactively supports and enables the participation of diverse suppliers in sourcing initiatives.   5%

•         Performs other relevant job duties as required.

Job Requirements:

Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:

•         Bachelor’s degree, master’s in business administration a plus.

•         Strategic sourcing experience or training preferred.

Experience:

•         3+ years of leadership experience.

•         5+ years of experience with sourcing capital equipment categories.

•         5+ years managing capital equipment supplier performance and relationships.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

•         Grocery, retail operation or merchandising experience a plus.

•         Understanding of strategic sourcing process.

•         Experience with supplier agreements with KPI’s.

•         Recognized as a leader and subject matter expert within the department and the company, provides input to overall department strategy and vision.

•         Excellent interpersonal, written, presentation, and verbal communication skills with a strong customer focus and ability to work with geographically dispersed teams.

•         Strong personal organizational skills while simultaneously managing and coordinating many diverse activities at different stages of completion.

•         Possess high degree of business acumen and understanding of the Company’s operations. 

•         Strong team leader who fosters positive encounters, a team approach, and ethical standards.

•         Must have advanced computer and Microsoft Office skills with high technical aptitude to understand new technologies. 

•         Ability to analyze data and initiate decisions and actions based on data. 

•         Resourceful and proactive approach.

•         Skilled at system development for business needs and articulate modifications to varying audiences.

•         Foster cross-functional team partnerships aligned with processes and procedures. 

•         Some travel may be required.

Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
