Responsibilities Makes command level decisions on all TACOM managed weapon systems and provides on-site evaluation of National Maintenance Program Initial Failure Quality Deficiency Reports. Interprets policy and technical guidance and makes decisions that are directly related to supporting TACOM managed equipment both for internal Department of Defense (DoD) customers and external agency customers. Analyzes, resolves, and coordinates the resolution of maintenance, supply, and other logistics issues affecting the readiness of fielded TACOM weapon systems. Advises unit, battalion, and brigade maintenance personnel from the standpoint of clarifying unit responsibilities and keeps field commanders apprised of the need to divert equipment maintenance to higher echelons. Monitors and analyzes logistics problem areas to determine root causes and recommend corrective action to field command elements or equipment proponent agencies. Provides technical guidance and advice on repair of all TACOM managed weapon systems including the overhauling of equipment and subsystems, welding on hull and frame repairs on equipment and subsystems. Utilizes knowledge of non-destructive testing to analyze, coordinate and monitor TACOM managed equipment and subsystems. Provides advice and assistance to field commanders, maintenance officers, maintenance technicians, and combat support personnel with maintenance advice, assistance, and training for the operation and maintenance of military materiel managed. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Conducting training and demonstrations pertaining to the operation, maintenance, and repair of fielded systems and equipment items; (2) Evaluates problems, issues, or situations and determines which approach should be taken to solve issues with equipment; (3) Approving changes for update or revised technical manuals, maintenance service letters, technical bulletins, and supply catalogs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Decision Making Maintenance Operations Oral Communication Support Equipment Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology Workforce position. Selectees must meet the position requirements for certification at Level I in Life Cycle Logistics. (Certification requirements may be found in the Defense Acquisition University Catalog at http://www.dau.mil/.) The employee may be required to deploy to, and remain in, hostile zones during crisis situations or mobilization, which may require flying in military aircraft. The employee may be required to live under field conditions; in tents consuming field rations such as Meals Ready to Eat (MRE). Single parents or families, where both parents are EE, are required to prepare and present their supervisor an approved family care plan. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time The employee may be on-call, work irregular hours, accompany the assigned Unit during technical and training field exercises, and deploy to contingency areas to provide technical and logistics assistance. The employee is responsible for ensuring no medical, dental, vision, or other health-related restrictions could prevent a deployment. The employee will maintain all required immunizations. If required, the employee will receive a series of vaccine immunizations to include Anthrax and annual boosters. The employee cannot be a Reserve Component or National Guard member subject to recall to active duty. The employee must report military recall status to management to effect removal from the Ready Reserve or exemption from retiree call-up. Overseas assignment will be in IAW established tours as defined in DoD Civilian Personnel Joint Travel Regulations unless mission dictates otherwise. The employee must maintain a Government Travel Credit Card (GTCC) IAW applicable rules and regulations. The employee will maintain government provided telephonic means of communication which LAP E-E/MM personnel are required to answer during duty and non-duty periods and respond to requests for information and assistance. TACOM LAP EE/MM Employees will complete and maintain current Commodity Tier 1 and Tier 2 level training and technical certification. Failure to meet and maintain Commodity Tier 1 and Tier 2certification may result in removal from the position. New hire employees must complete their Commodity Tier 1 requirement within 12 months of being hired.
