Equipment & Systems Engineer, Technology

The Equipment and Systems Engineer, you will be actively engaged in driving industry-leading research and development associated with machinery and systems for marine and offshore applications. 

What You Will Do:

Lead research and assess the maturity of new technologies in the maritime industry including different machinery and systems of offshore platforms, drilling, subsea equipment associated with evolving technologies. Have a good understanding on relevant regulatory requirements. Also detailed knowledge of piping systems (e.g., fresh water, sea water, lube oil, fuel oil, compressed air, hydraulic system, cryogenics piping etc.), machinery, equipment, and various systems on board a ship and offshore installation.  Establish guidance and classification requirements for the marine and offshore industry on the application of new technology.  Support ABS technical community on queries regarding different onboard mechanical equipment and systems. Maintain and demonstrate thought leadership through technical publications and presentations. Participate in industry societies to development and enhance technical capabilities. 

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/ marine/ chemical Engineering or other related discipline; M.S. is preferred. Minimum of five (5) years relevant engineering experience in the oil and gas  industry, shipyard, design/consulting company, shipping/offshore companies,  university, or classification society.

Required/Preferred Education Requirements

Professional or chartered engineer license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of systems and equipment in the offshore upstream industry, such as drilling, completion, production, and intervention Knowledge of API standards for upstream system and equipment, such as API 6A, 16A, 16C, 17D, 17G Knowledge of subsea technology, such as subsea equipment, operations, installations.  Knowledge of onboard machinery such as engines and associated equipment, auxiliary machinery, and propulsion systems. Knowledge of general mechanical systems Awareness of carbon capture application in Offshore  Awareness of emerging technologies and trends in the marine and offshore industry including future fuels and power generation. Strong communicator with excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent command of the English language. Demonstrated ability to work well with others.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to a Manager or Director level position.
