Equipment Tech, Full Time 8A-4P, ED CMC
Principal Functions: + Oversee ordering of supplies from storeroom and/ or purchasing via PM as necessary, taking note of surplus and depletion of supplies. Check daily with the central processing for Ed instruments and trays. Monitors and maintain supplies in the main Ed, PEDs Ed, jet and continuing care, clean utility room and nurses station, unpacks all boxes, stock supplies and exam rooms accordingly in a timely manner. + Stocking/ inventory: in conjunction with material management maintains adequate par levels for all supplies, and all associated functions. Advisors charge nurse, assistant nurse manager, and Ed manager/ director of any shortages. Monitors and socks all patient rooms for necessary supplies and equipment. + Surveys the Ed daily, taking note and advising the charge nurse, assistant nurse manager, and Ed manager/ director, a surplus and or depletion of supplies as well as noting structural repairs as they become necessary. Ensures those stretches are in working condition including weekly scale battery change with full oxygen cylinders under stretcher. Monitor life pack batteries and EKG machines for cleanliness, accurate timing cables weekly, replace and clean as needed, maintain weekly maintenance schedule. + Equipment maintenance and inspection: daily inspection of ophthalmoscopes, oto- scopes, BP cuffs, thermometers, and monitor cables in all rooms to ensure they are present, clean and in working order. Collaborates with clinical engineering and equipment maintenance, repairs and or replacement period log and deliver or arrange delivery of broken equipment to clinical engineering and/ or engineering retrieve and log word equipment from clinic and/ or engineering. Collaborates with environmental services for stretcher cleaning on a scheduled basis and as necessary. Work through the environmental services to schedule routine department exam room cleaning and floor waxing. Demonstrates ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities + . Maintains readiness of decontamination room, monitors water supply, recovery tank, DECON cart, and log sheet. Cleans and maintains the squad room/ sheds, works collaboratively with the EMS to ensure EMS equipment is lead and stored in the Designated area. + Consistently responds to the request and needs of the physicians and ED staff in a courteous, professional manner. Partners and collaborate with Ed charge nurses and assistant nurse managers to meet the needs of the department. Consistently responsive patients requesting a timely manner. Consistently respects the patient’s right to privacy and dignity Required: 1. High School Diploma or GED Preferred: 1. Previous healthcare experience in the Emergency Department setting 2. BLS certification 3. Previous experience as an Equipment Technician
