Position Availability: Position Title: Equity & Belonging Student Organizers - Student Assistant Specialist FWS Requisition Number: 0406073522 Location New York City Position Type: Student Department: CA/Student Success Responsibilities: The New School was founded by forward-thinking educators in 1919 to defy the intellectual constraints of a traditional college education. Equity & Belonging is seeking Student Organizers who will support Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging projects and initiatives for students at The New School. Our Student Organizers will work with various community partners to develop and sustain programming, networks, and services that are grounded in a belonging framework and that emphasize the intersectionality of the whole identity and foster a culture of care and belonging as community goals. Candidate(s) must be available to work during the academic months (August-June), work some evenings and weekends, and have an Federal Work Study (FWS) award.

RESPONSIBILITIES Support Equity & Belonging event preparation including but not limited to transporting materials, decorating & arranging spaces, and event breakdown/clean-up. Create programming and marketing materials for events that adhere to New School branding standards. When available, be on-site during events to provide additional event support such as guest check-in, facilitate activities, accept catering, and troubleshoot technical issues. Research and brainstorm ideas for Heritage Month, Recognition Days, and Religious Observances to support the creation of programmatic initiatives. Help gather and organize content for Equity & Belonging university-wide communications, newsletter, and social media platforms. Support drafting, researching, creating, and sharing social media messaging around cultural months and event promotion following New School guidelines. Provide general office support


WORK MODEOn-Campus Position – Employees in this position are expected to work on-campus during regularly scheduled work hours due to the nature of the work being that which is not feasible, or not in the best interest of the organization, to be performed remotely.
SALARY RANGE$19-21 per hour

Minimum Qualifications:
Passionate about DEIB / EISJ, access / opportunity, and anti-oppression work in a higher education setting Be open-minded, culturally competent, and respect all perspectives Takes initiative, works independently and collaboratively, strong work ethic  Meets deadlines in a timely manner, communicates clearly, and asks for help when needed Uses good judgment, thinks critically and thoughtfully Knowledge of social media platforms such as but not limited to IG, Facebook, etc. Experience with researching, brainstorming, ideating, and creating programming and marketing materials Able to commit at least 10 hours a week of office hours Must be able to lift boxes weighing up to 35lbs o support student initiatives  Preferred Qualifications:
