Job Overview:

The Emergency Department Tech assists the health care professionals in the delivery of care to patients. The Tech provides care under the direction of RN/LPN/MD utilizing the skills and techniques established within the job description.

Qualifications:

Required:

High School Diploma or GEDBLS Certification through American Heart Association onlySuccessful completion of all Orientation Programs and Documentation

Preferred:

1 year patient care experience

Certifications and Licenses:

BLS certification through American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

Evenings 11:00AM 11:30PMFull-Time (36 hrs)Mandatory Orientation

Essential Functions:

Answers telephone/intercom in a polite manner and communicates information to appropriate personnel/familyApplies knee immobilizer, splints, slings, and ace bandages and assists with ambulation techniquesAssists with nutritional needs of patients under supervision of RNAssists with patient positioning and repositioning as requiredCommunicates pertinent patient information to appropriate individualCompletes personal hygiene for patientsComplies with unit and department schedulingImplements the policies and procedures of the hospital and Nursing DepartmentInitiates cardiac monitoring and performs 2 lead EKGPerforms phlebotomy and point of care testingPrepares emergency equipment at bedside ie.; suction, oxygen, IV equipmentRecords patient intake and output
