Position Description
eBay is looking for an outstanding addition to our Sustainability team to play a pivotal role in advancing eBay’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and sustainability data and disclosure management, governance and reporting readiness! The ESG Reporting Manager will report directly to eBay’s Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) and help craft and refine our future ESG reporting strategy, playing a critical part in a broader effort to ensure adherence to global sustainability regulations. This position requires extensive knowledge across a wide range of ESG topics, including climate change, carbon reduction strategies, transportation, recommerce, disclosure standards, and internal team engagement!
What You Will Accomplish: Develop and implement eBay’s ESG strategy and readiness plans for applicable global and jurisdictional ESG reporting-related initiatives (e.g., Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), SEC’s climate rule, GHG, IFRS S1/S2, California SB 253/261). Coordinate ESG data collection and develop standard procedures and processes aligned with internal controls over financial reporting.Assist teams with building data collection and methodological processes for ESG data and reporting requirements.Stay updated on the latest ESG reporting regulations (e.g., CSRD), industry trends, and various reporting frameworks. Provide strategic guidance and recommendations to the CSO and ESG Controller on evolving issues and processes related to ESG materiality, data assurance, and reporting.Partner with various internal departments, including Legal, Internal Audit, Investor Relations, Controllership, Information Technology, and others to ensure alignment on sustainability reporting and data governance. In coordination with ESG Controller, develop project timelines for ESG and CSRD data reporting, ensuring project management to meet external reporting timelines while driving continuous improvement in ESG and CSRD data reporting processes, systems and data management.Provide training and education to internal partners to improve awareness and understanding of ESG and CSRD data assurance and reporting.Along with ESG Controllership, coordinate with internal and external auditors as it relates to limited and reasonable assurance over ESG reporting, where required.Participate in ESG reporting processes as a subject matter authority for climate and environmental data.Support and coordinate with teams leading eBay’s voluntary ESG reporting (Impact Report) to strengthen cross-functional alignment.What You Will Bring - Basic Qualifications The successful candidate will have 10+ years of sustainability / ESG experience preferably in a global organization or consultancy within the retail, internet or technology sectors. Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.What You Will Bring - Skills & Proficiencies:Proven experience in project management and leading critical initiatives from conceptualization to execution. Strong written and verbal communications skills that reflect an ability to clarify and simplify sophisticated issues and subject matters. Solid understanding of ESG and sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., CSRD, CDP, TCFD, ISSB) and GHG accounting (Scopes 1, 2, and 3) methodologies.Technical skills in climate-related areas such as carbon accounting and reduction, renewable energy, Net Zero targets, and carbon credits. Skills and experience related to recommerce and/or transportation, a plus.Familiarity using ESG software such as Workiva, Watershed or AuditBoard strongly preferred.Successful launching of voluntary corporate sustainability reports (or related reports inclusive of ESG standards like SASB) in a leading role.Willingness to travel, as needed. Active user of eBay products.
