The ESIS Claims Team Leader is responsible for supervising and directing the activities of Claims Representatives, Specialists, Claims Assistants and/or other Clerical support positions in the investigation and settlement of claims to assure prompt, efficient, and fair claims handling. The Team Leader will be responsible for working with the ESIS Claims management team to successfully implement business plans focusing on claims quality, customer service, staff development and expense management.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Assigns work to subordinates and determines subordinates settlement and reserve authority in conjunction with the Claims Manager or Claims Leadership. Supervises investigations of claims and oversees the settlement and disposition of claims within their area of responsibility assuring timely, equitable and cost effective settlement. Assesses liability and establishes loss reserves to reflect probable obligation and reviews/modifies reserves as necessary throughout the life of the claim. May directly settle claims depending on office size, territory or workload. Evaluates work of subordinates on open cases and at periodic intervals. Provides direction and counsel by identifying areas of improvement needed. May be responsible for overseeing proceedings for subrogation or recovery and for cases in suit. Assesses employee capabilities and conducts performance appraisals of subordinates. Provides guidance, motivation and resources to subordinates to ensure that individual, department and company goals are met. Implements training and development and participates in the compensation administration process. Facilitates change by addressing points of resistance and individual issues and concerns. Acts as a facilitator to help remove barriers and resolve team issues. Participates as an accountable member of the Claims Leadership Team and promotes division/company strategies and values. Builds internal and external relationships. Participates in marketing as required. Participates in account reviews. Works with business partners such as insurance companies, TPA's, internal ACE departments, brokers, attorneys, clients etc. Handles other supervisory responsibilities as required by individual business line. This position reports to a line of business Claims Manager or other more senior claims leader. Reporting into this position may be Claims Representatives, Claims Specialists, Claims Assistants or other Clerical Support positions depending on the line of business. High level of technical claims knowledge and competence in specific line of business. Minimum of 10 years workers' compensation claims handling experience with ACE or a similar organization. Technical claims knowledge appropriate to jurisdictional responsibilities. Minimum of 2 years of management or supervisory experience. Ability to plan, organize and implement general business and people management practices. Effective communications and interpersonal skills to be capable of dealing with all levels of employees, as well as producers, attorneys and insureds. Strong information systems understanding and ability to use internal systems as well as Microsoft office programs and the internet. Ability to collect and analyze data and identify individual and team opportunities for improvement. Ability to provide coaching and counseling to subordinates. Ability to influence peers and management and to evaluate programs and procedures for continuous improvement. Understanding and support of team building theory and demonstrated ability to work within theory.Bachelors degree in Business Administration or associated field. Oregon Workers' compensation certification.ARM, AIC, CPCU certification.An applicable resident or designated home state adjuster’s license is required for ESIS Field Claims Adjusters. Adjusters that do not fulfill the license requirements will not meet ESIS’s employment requirements for handling claims. ESIS supports independent self-study time and will allow up to 4 months to pass the adjuster licensing exam.
The pay range for the role is $66,900 to $125,100. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
