Purpose Summary

Working remotely, the Esports Coach will work temporarily with the School Service Delivery: Clubs and Activities team to support the Esports Summer Camp program. Students will gain resources and coaching to improve their gameplay in Rocket League and/or Valorant. This position will report to the Manager of Student Clubs & Activities, and work directly with the Esports Club Coordinator.

Successful candidates will have a strong background in Esports and working with 6-12th grade students, as well as a passion for fostering teamwork among students. An ideal candidate will have strong technology and gaming skills including working on several online platforms at once, presenting in a virtual environment, and expertise in Discord and both Microsoft® Office programs and Google™ tools.

Core Tasks and Responsibilities

Lead up to 40 hours of coaching sessions over two 9-day summer 2024 sessions between the hours of 2-4pm Eastern Time: Monday to Friday June 17-28 (no session on June 19), and Tuesday July 16- Monday July 29. Contribute to improved gameplay and teamwork of students by providing engaging activities differentiated based on levels for building skills and strategies in Esports games; Develop and deliver training and practice activities; Collaborate with the Esports Coordinator to plan topics for Summer Esports Camp sessions;

Required Skills, Experience, and Competencies

Requirements:

Strong background in Esports. Expertise in playing and coaching Rocket League (Supersonic Legend rank) and/or Valorant (Radiant rank) Proficient in gaming technology and Discord Strong verbal and written communication skills; a solid student-focused approach; Professional conduct where the learning environment is maintained at all times, and with care exercised to respect the diverse views and values of all students; Materials and presentations must not denigrate a student on the basis of creed, culture, race, gender, or national origin; and Appropriate attire, language, and behavior are required.
