The Estimating Manager is responsible for all estimating needs across multiple projects or a single large complex project.

Responsibilities Leads the estimating process and deliverable for multiple concurrent projects within a Business Unit (BU) or a single large / complex project through the entire design phase of a projectDevelops estimating deliverables for multiple project types (centers of excellence) and delivery methodsPrepares preliminary conceptual cost estimates and budgets on limited information while providing adequate written clarifications of the costing assumptionsCollaborates with other internal disciplines consistently including operations, accounting, VDC, purchasing, and schedulingCoordinates often with the Senior Estimating Manager, preconstruction lead, operations team, and BD staff on all deliverables with projects ranging in size and complexityCoordinates and executes tasks of estimating personnel assigned to a specific estimateCommunicates and coordinates the entire Gilbane estimating process with Client and design teamCollaborates with other vertical departments for complete alignment including Next 150, Gilbane Insurance Group, TPM, FMS and GTGParticipates in the development of the fee pro and proposals, specifically as it relates to preconstruction services and associated costsPrepares costs for each estimating deliverable for the entire package to align with contract requirements and fee enhancement opportunities including staffing, site services, general conditions, subcontractor default insurance, insurance programs, etc.Understands all construction disciplines (civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical) to prepare reliable, cost certain estimating deliverablesLeads staff to ensure accuracy in estimating process, procedures, and review requirementsReviews and understands all project plans, requirements, and specificationsCoordinates and supervises a team of estimators to develop large, multi-disciplinary estimatesLeads the Value Management process to reduce price and increase valueServes as a Gilbane brand ambassador with Owners, design teams, and industry partners (for example ACE mentor programs)Trains direct reports on processes, procedures, and completion of daily tasks Manages workload and performance of direct reports, ensuring alignment with overall company standardsFosters a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team membersAids in communicating company and department strategy to direct reportsMay be required to assist with tasks typically assigned to more junior positions Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management8-15+ years of relevant experience Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Ability to lead multiple estimates concurrently or large / complex estimatesExtensive knowledge of On-Screen Take-off, Destini, and Site work software tools for take-offsStrong collaboration skills to reconcile estimating assumptions with designers and OwnersAbility to leads the estimating process and deliverable for projects throughout the design phaseAbility to presents estimating deliverables (internally and externally) and participates in interviews during the pursuit phaseAbility to conceptually estimate projects with limited informationAbility to estimate multiple facility types such as residential high rise, healthcare, interiors, and institutionalAbility to estimate within multiple delivery methodsAbility to maintain healthy working relationships with industry partners (Owners, designers, subcontractors, etc.) for the development of estimating deliverablesResearches and maintains market trends (material, equipment, lead times) relating to estimating efforts
