Instrumentation & Electrical Planner/ Estimator

 

Reports to:      District Manager

Regular, Full-Time Position

Exempt position: Corpus Christi Office

Location: Corpus Christi, TX

 

General Job Description:

Works closely with Project Managers to determine the costs associated with completing the scope of work on a project. Responsible for completing quantity take-offs, preparing cost estimates, communicating with sub-trades to determine the financial needs of completing a project.

Essential Duties and Skills:

Assess the type of project, client and closing date of the project to determine prioritization of all projects Conduct site inspection, analysis of conditions and assessment of risk and identification of activities that may or may not show up in the scope of the project Analyze drawing, specifications and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates Prepare, issue, receive and review supplier and subcontractor proposals for pricing Coordinate with client on all changes in scope, questions or clarifications regarding the work, during the bidding process Act as a resource to project management during the award/start-up phase to clarify any issues regarding what was considered in the estimate including materials and methods of construction Review budget and project profitability status and goals with supervision and project team as required. Acts as a resource for project management by providing cost information and developing cost estimates for changes in the work, during different construction phases Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information And other assigned duties

 

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required Must have a minimum of 10-years experience in the industrial electrical and instrumentation field Knowledge of electrical/instrumentation material takeoff’s from plan drawings, site walkdowns and customer directions Familiar with P&ID’s, plan drawings, reading and understanding scope of work documents Understanding industrial labor units and how they apply to various electrical/instrumentation applications Any relative certifications are a plus, but not required Ability to speak Spanish is a plus Must have a valid driver’s license Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision Must possess the ability to speak with customers and various divisions on an as needed basis Proficient with Microsoft Office is required Must be able to estimate Instrumentation and Electrical

Physical Requirements, in a given day include, but are not limited to:

ability to sit (50%), stand (75%) and walk (80%) for prolonged periods of time ability to climb ladders (up to 25%) and work from elevated work surfaces ability to walk up and down stairs (possibly several flights) ability to lift up to 25 pounds manual dexterity for computer use when required, wear necessary flame retardant clothing ability to work in all elements (hot, cold, rain, snow, etc.) for periods of time
