Position Summary:
Estimates labor and material costs of manufacturing and engineering based on Request for Proposal or Quote (RFP/RFQ) data submitted by prospective customers. Analyzes specifications including sketches, blueprints, bills of material, or sample layouts, and calculates production costs using labor and material pricing schedules and historical data. Collects cost data from functional representatives, subcontractors, and vendors. Computes cost estimates of raw materials or subcontracted work and labor. Prepares and maintains historical cost data. Creates cost models for cost estimating elements. Prepares cost reports and presents findings to management, contract personnel, proposal coordinators, customer representatives, price auditors, vendors, and subcontractors.
Reporting Relationships:
The Estimator will report to the Associate Program Manager.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintaining regular and punctual attendance according to shift-times or a pre-arrangedProvide work instructions and guidance to team membersUsing drawing and specification information in customer Requests for Quotes (RFQ), determine labor, material, and process hour and cost estimates for detailed parts, assemblies, and toolingReview Estimator worksheets for accuracy and completenessCoordinate with Business Development, Program and Division Management, and other support functions as required to complete estimates using company approved Excel workbooks and data sheetsPrepare and/or coordinate summary quote presentation documentation such as internal Proposal Review workbooks and PowerPoint presentationsCoordinate, prepare, and submit Customer required proposal documentationMaintain historical databases for Division core competencies and typical productsPrepare cost models and parametric studies using historical databasesInstruct/guide team in the preparation of reports, presentations, status, and continuous improvement initiativesMay occasionally perform special projects; Perform other duties as assignedCreate customer specific priority (“HOT”) lists for production and individual department tracking.Acquire customer POC’s (purchase order changes) for due date changes and quantities.
