Our Core Values (https://mgeunderground.com/about/) Safety | Continuous Development | Respect | Integrity | Performance | Trust | Fun How You Can Make an Impact The Estimator is responsible for all aspects of the estimating process for projects bid and awarded.  This position requires an experienced and versatile Estimator who will create skilled and competitive bid packages for current and upcoming project opportunities. You understand the process of preparing estimates and negotiating delivery methods, and you are adaptable to the changing needs of our clients and industry expectations. How You Will Contribute + Read blueprints and technical documents to prepare estimates and material take-offs. + Attend pre-bid meetings and coordinate pre/post-job meetings. + Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and sub-contractors on estimates. + Consult with industry experts and management to discuss estimates and resolve issues. + Maintain and source best value and diverse subcontractors/suppliers/resources. + Ensure pricing is updated in Heavy Bid. + Conduct Project Handoff Meetings that are initiated by the Execution Team. + Participate in project post-mortem reviews. + Assist in or delegate the transfer of bid information to HeavyJob and Vista by Viewpoint. + Use MGE computer software to calculate estimates. + Ensure project scopes, schedules, and budgets are clearly defined. + Evaluate a product's cost-effectiveness or profitability. + Track, bid, and secure profitable work. + Work with other teams to prepare estimates and bids for clients. + Develop a project-based schedule for the duration of the project. + Visit jobs post-award to analyze production and cost to make sure all margins are met. + Collect and analyze data to estimate a project competitively. + Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labor expenses. + Travel to job sites to gather information on materials needed, labor required, and other factors. + Perform other job-related duties as assigned by your supervisor. + Supervise and mentor one or more individuals. What You Bring to the Table + Valid Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record + Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). + Basic understanding of accounting principles and standards. + Strong mathematical skills – knowing the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem. + Extensive knowledge with CPM scheduling via MS Project, Sure Trak, P6. + Extensive knowledge with reading blueprints, plans, specs, contracts, quotes, purchase orders, etc. + Extensive knowledge of city, county, and municipality requirements (i.e. Standard Plans and Specifications). + Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instruction. + Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency. + Ability to travel to job sites as required. + Ability to agree on completion dates and times for delegated work. + Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent + Desired: Bachelor’s in civil engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + Required: Minimum 5 years of verifiable construction experience in estimating, project management, and/or field management experience + Desired: Minimum 1 year of experience supervising others + Desired: Experience in HCSS software in the electrical utility industry. Our Competitive Package Pay: $110,000 - $148,000 annually. This pay range is our competitive compensation at the time of this job posting. Your pay will be determined based on experience, education, skills, and applicable knowledge.
