Job Description

Our mid-sized concrete contractor client is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to focus on their small, medium, and large concrete bid proposals. As an Estimator, you will support our lead estimators and senior management while playing a key role in keeping business operations and activities organized and on track. Working with our team, you will conduct take-offs/estimates, attend onsite pre-bid & post-bid meetings, and work directly with customers and the trades team on multiple projects. You will assume a wide range of responsibilities, all of which will require a high level of organizational skills, timeliness, and persistence.

ResponsibilitiesAnalyze requirement documents, blueprints, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project.Determine what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product.Prepare material estimates and cost estimates for the product or service.Create labor estimates for any project.Manage bids from vendors and contractors.Use bid data to prepare a detailed cost analysis.Present prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders.Compile and record actual costs.Assist in the preparation of proposals, correspondence, and bid documents.Assist project team in securing all necessary permits and licenses.Track multiple projects simultaneously and help resolve issues in a timely manner.Coordinate project communication among architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.Provide support to accounting staff for construction billing and accounts payable.Document control, creating, and maintaining job files.Essential SkillsConcrete constructionFlatworkBlueprint reading and interpretationConstruction managementConstruction estimatingAbility to read and understand blueprints and other construction documentsGood written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and ability to handle multiple priorities and tight deadlinesFlexibility and willingness to accommodate last-minute requests in a fast-paced environmentAbility to maintain a positive outlook and willingness to overcome challenges to accomplish tasksProficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Windows-based PC applications, PDF, and email programsPrior estimating or construction experienceAdditional Skills & Qualifications2-5 years as an Estimator in the commercial and/or industrial construction industryPrior experience using construction management software to compile bids and intelAbility to read a blueprint from industry knowledge experience and explain what that means to the process of estimatingSpecific commercial/industrial concrete estimating experience is a plusWork Environment

The typical work week is Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends in emergencies. You will likely work 45-50 hours per week, spending 65% of the time in the office and 35% on the road visiting sites and getting business. You may visit construction sites to gather information and analyze proposals, specifications, blueprints, and construction documents to understand the project. You will work closely with project managers to coordinate and oversee vendors and subcontractors in the bid process.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $60.10/hr.
