ESTIMATOR - ROANOKE, VA Targeting $60,000 Annually (negotiable) Responsibilities: The Estimator prepares bids and written proposals based upon specifications provided directly by the customer and/or from the Business Development Managers. This position requires the ability to handle multiple tasks to meet customer-mandated time schedules. + Assists in the bids and proposals process to estimate costs and prepares detailed written proposals and compliance matrices. + Determines material quantities and labor required for total job cost. This is accomplished using tables and data established within the department and obtaining quotations from suppliers and/or subcontractors. + Works with Purchasing to maintain accurate material costs on the shelter bid forms. + Works with Human Resources to maintain accurate labor costs on the shelter bid summary sheet. + Assists the Business Development Managers with follow-ups by phone on previous quotations submitted to the customer. + Checks and confirms that customer specifications and purchase orders are in acknowledgement of written proposals. + Performs other tasks as required from the Bids and Proposals Manager. + Must have excellent written and organizational skills. + Must have the ability to multi-task. + Must have the ability to schedule workload to meet customer mandated deadlines. + Must have a high degree of professionalism and the ability to hold confidential information. + Knowledge of construction and/or electrical experience **Requirements:** + Education: 1 year certificate or Associate’s degree (A.A.) from a college or technical school. + Experience: 3-5 years’ experience. + Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. + Ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints. + Overall knowledge of construction and/or power distribution preferred. + Basic knowledge of algebra and geometry and mathematical formulas.
