Hiring for an Estimator in Branford, CT! Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Estimator to join our team. The primary role of this position is to estimate projects accurately and efficiently. The successful candidate will be responsible for taking off work from plans, estimating projects, and becoming self-sufficient to handle project bids and paperwork for review within a reasonable period. Additionally, this role involves prequalification submittals, schedules, and other bidding requirements, as well as researching projects out for bid. Responsibilities + Estimate projects by taking off work from plans and preparing accurate bids. + Become self-sufficient in handling project bids and paperwork for review. + Prepare prequalification submittals, schedules, and other submittals required for bidding. + Research projects out for bid. + Work on heavy construction projects, including pile driving, concrete work, site work, deep excavations, and DOT work. + Handle utility work, including sewer work and water supply. + Perform underground electrical duct banks, large vaults, and substation work (excluding electrical work). + Engage in marine construction, including docks, sheet piling, pile driving, stone breakwaters, and revetments. + Perform millwrighting and rigging tasks, including movable bridge repairs, power plant work, and setting, moving, or adjusting large industrial equipment. Essential Skills + Experience in heavy and marine construction. + Around 8 to 10 years of experience in the construction industry. + Approximately 3 years of experience as a superintendent, project manager, or similar role. + Over 5 years of full-time estimating experience. + Proficiency in bidding, blueprint reading, construction management, and estimating software. + Experience in commercial construction, heavy construction, infrastructure, and marine construction. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. + Engineering experience is desirable due to the nature of the work, including design for temporary work and proposal modifications. Work Environment The work environment includes a mix of office and fieldwork, primarily dealing with heavy and marine construction projects. The role involves using various technologies and equipment related to construction management and estimating. The company provides a vehicle, health, and dental plan with an HSA.
