Job Description
The Estimator is an essential member of our team, primarily responsible for Program Management and estimating activities for all new customer orders generated by the Outside Sales Team. This role involves creating estimates based on customer's RFQs (Request for Quotations) and preparing formal quotation packages for customer review.
ResponsibilitiesCommunicate with all facets of the organization regarding new customer inquiries and program planning.Manage new product programs generated by the Outside Sales Team, coordinating materials, labor, machines, and resources from inception to implementation.Review RFQs to determine material and labor requirements and prepare standard cost estimates, generally within a 24-hour turnaround.Review customer drawings and specifications, preparing notes and exceptions to be communicated to customers on quotes.Consult with the outside sales team, customers, vendors, manufacturing, accounting, quality, and other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.Develop Bills of Materials (BOM) and Work Instructions to communicate customer requirements to manufacturing employees via the Traveler.Communicate with Tool & Die Makers to obtain tooling cost estimates and ensure tooling ordered matches yield and layout assumptions made on the cost sheet.Submit formal quotations to appropriate customer personnel, such as purchasing agents, buyers, and project managers.Assist in developing prints for manufacturing use where no customer print exists.Continuously evaluate the estimating process to prevent low profitability parts, making recommendations to improve quote turn-around time and cost estimate accuracy.Function as back-up for Customer Service Representatives during absences, ensuring project continuity.Maintain knowledge base of current materials and practices.Essential Skills3-5 years of estimator experience within the manufacturing industryProficiency in estimation, manufacturing, pricing, and RFQsExperience in sales administrationAdditional Skills & QualificationsStrong communication and organizational skillsAbility to work collaboratively with various departmentsDetail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiencyWork Environment
This position is onsite in Torrance. The role involves regular interaction with different teams and departments, ensuring a collaborative work environment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $38.50/hr.
