Job ID: 18283 Job Description Reports to the General Manager, the Estimator supports all Pacific Bids & Estimates and helps develop price proposals by performing estimating duties such as bid document management and organization, preparing take-offs for construction projects and researching information for incorporation into bids. What We Offer + Salary Range: $80,000 -$120,000 + Health & Dental Benefits + Employee Assistance Program + Employer RRSP match + Competitive Time Off Policy + Flex Work (Possibility) - Hybrid position Primary / Essential Responsibilities and Duties + Reviews tender documents and attends pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimates. + Analyzes tender documents, plans, specs and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials and labour estimates. + Manage quantity surveys and take-offs as required. + Manage detailed material lists based on the tender documents and specs and forwards to Material Manager for pricing. + Reviews and incorporates historical data from prior estimates, purchase agreements and subcontracts in order to gain information for current bids. + Analyzes and evaluates bids from subcontractors for their completeness and accuracy in scope of work. + Develops scope of work for subcontractors and suppliers. + Solicits subcontractor/vendor for pricing. + Prepares submission and coordinates for bid day with other staff involved in the estimating process. + Ensures compliance with the tender documents/requirements. + Ensures all general conditions of the tender document are met i.e. insurance/bonding/special requirements. + Liaises with the management for strategic estimate approach and feedback on estimates. + Leads bid review process + Creates initial construction schedule and cash flow forecast + Tracks and follows upcoming projects within SharePoint and updates weekly. + Prepares and presents project turn over package upon award of contract. + Performs other related duties as assigned Qualifications: + High School graduation plus post-secondary training in a relevant field. + A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience preferably gained in the construction or railway industry. + Ability to read, understand and interpret drawings and specifications + Proficiency in reviewing contract documents. + Strong verbal and written communication skills. + Strong presentation skills + Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities, and meet deadlines. + Proficiency utilizing common business and estimating applications such as Microsoft Office products, Hard Dollar, Explorer or JD Edwards software. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions + This is full-time office position; + Occasional weekend or night work may be required; + Occasional exposure to outdoor construction sites in all weather conditions may be required; + Majority of the field work is on and around live track (trains); + Work may be in urban, rural or isolated areas.
